Does instant coffee expire?!

Question: I have a bottle of maxwell house instant coffee sitting in my pantry and it's sealed, it has never been opened. The expiration date on it is May 12, 2005. Can I still use it or do I have to throw it away?

I'm not sure how instant coffee ages, it says best if used by may 2005 so I'm thinking it may not be good at all??

I ama former chef and drink instant coffee everyday, and as 2 of the other repsondant's have said there is nothing in it to go bad.

It was first a liquid that was dehydrated in to a powder, there is nothing inside it to good bad, for those who would have you throw out an unopend jar is just misleading.

If you want to use it, make it into a syrup by boiling 2 cups of water and 1 1/2 cups sugar to a syrup and then add the coffee until dissolved, then keep it in the frig, it can be used for cold iced coffee, in desserts and making frappacinos or iced lattes.

Here in Canada on sale I get a 200 gram jar (6oz) for $2.49 C$, the would be with exchange now are $2.90 AM$, but it is something I would not just throw out, I found a bottle of 20 yr old Tabasco in my sisters cupboard one time it had gone black.

Yeah definitely throw it away.

If it's sealed and no moisture has gotten in I think it would be OK. There's not much to coffee, like a regular food product would have. Not much to actually spoil.

i would use it it just goes solid if its still loose it should be ok

If moisture gets to it because it is freeze dried. It should me fine if it is sealed.

Instant coffee is not too expensive. Why not just throw the instant coffee away and buy a new bottle.
