Why does coke go flat so fast in a cup?!

Question: it seems that whenever I pour Coke into a cup, it goes flat within approx. 20 minutes. I know all about air exposure and etc, but what causes it to lose carbonation faster than other drinks?

Because of the acids and things put into it just like any other carbonic acid but when you put it into a cup it hits the air and it starts to go flat and it might be in a heated area as well. Kind of like in caves because it takes quite a while for the carbonic acid to destroy things and the cave is always the same temperature through out the years no matter what and it stays like that longer and it is used to it. But when the acid in the soda hits an unknown place it starts to lose some of the acidity and goes flat.

I think the larger surface area to allow the bubbles to escape

Because of the acids that are in there it reacts to the bubbles there for you have got to drink it quick.

its in the open air.. you gave it a reason to leave...best to keep a bottle with a cap on it for it to last longer
