When you pour a fizzy drink you get a lot of foam at the top. why does sticking in your finger kill the foam?!

Question: It's the salt on your finger. You can also shake a little salt from a shaker and that will do the same thing...but if you're heavy handed it will cause the drink to be too salty.

Holding the glass at an angle and pouring the liquid slowly will help keep too many bubbles from forming.

The finger probably prevents the bubbles from surfacing unbroken, though I've never tested that one. Try holding the glass at a 45-degree angle and pouring the drink along the side - you'll have almost no foam, and therefore almost no carbonation wasted. Plus more will fit in the glass on the first pouring.

your finger had oil on it and it reacts with the fizz causing it to slow down and be less

p.s most people get it to slow down faster by using there finger to whipe there face cause the face has more oils in it and then stick it in the drink
