I'm sure it was a matter of realizing that the calves were deriving nourishment from sucking on the cow's teats and figuring it from there.
That would be the first calf, thinking "I'm hungry." The first person to do it was probably a herdsman far away from a river or spring who was thinking "Damn, I'm thirsty."
It could have been someone watching a calf feed, then had the idea to milk the cow.
Another idea is just to icky to think of.....and it could put me off my cornflakes.
This would have been learned from the way a mother cow fed her calf, people would have then milked the cow like the calf does, pretty easy really.

More than likely the first person to milk a cow was One of Adam and Eve's children and the most likely reason they did it was the cow lost a calf and was in pain.

It is not much weirder than millions of so called educated people drinking cows milk..especially since a lot of the time it is so bad for them with allergies etc. Goats milk is far superior and was probably used before cows milk anyway. Actually if you really think about it drinking another species milk is really kind of perverted.
i actually think it's a good question i wonder myself who did and decided what animals we could eat like who said we don't eat dogs but we eat cows? ya know sometime somewhere someone ate and drank the most disgusting things to figure out what was good and what was bad,,,I'm glad we live in a time when it's already done lol
