Why does milk taste bad when you're sick?!
Thanks. : )
Answers: I love drinking milk. (I'm twenty three years old and still prefer the taste of it to other drinks) But I've never liked it when I'm sick. Is there some sort of scientific answer to this, or is it just a mystery?
Thanks. : )
Dairy products actually create more mucus; the last thing you need when you have a cold. It's also hard to digest, which is why you prefer broths and mild foods when your stomach is upset.
the mucus in the back of your throat gets in the way. same thing happens happens with green lolipops. kudos to u for drinking milk!
Probably because the smell of milk (when it's not off) is quite sickly.
for me its because when i'm sick i can't eat/drink dairy. it makes my stomach upset
My mom used to make milk toast for me when I was a kid. She would toast bread, butter it, then pour hot milk over it. Then sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. It was great! And yeah...milk is great normally. I prefer it to beer - even with pizza.
But you're right. Cold milk isn't good when your'e sick. Maybe 'cause you already have a bad taste in your mouth.
In sickness.......not only milk but every thing tastes bad.......because in sickness the tongue's taste buds perceives wrong taste.
Have you tried warming the milk? When you are sick, cold drinks aren't good for you. A sour stomach can curdle the milk and thus your taste buds tell you it doesn't taste good. If you have a cold, you shouldn't drink milk, it produces mucus which prevents healing.
