How can gatorade be that great?!

Question: I understand how gatorade replinishes your body, rehydrates it and give your body "things that water can't." But the thing that doesn't make sense, is that a 20oz. bottle has 35 grams of sugar! How can they say it's so great if it is loaded with sugar?

The only way that stuff is good for you is in the short term when you are burning calories like an NFL player. Normal activities like watching TV and typing at the computer do not qualify as strenuous and it would not be good for you.

That is why you see fat people drinking Gatorade and Mountain Dew.

it's not great in the long run

It just taste good.

gatorade is meant to be drank by active people.....active people need sugars to keep their energy level up....which is why all these people who drink "vitamin water", diet soda, or sports drinks but sit on their @sses are actually doing their body wrong.

it's an energy drink and meant for sports people or those in physical activity.

it ain't that good if you're not involved in a strenous physical activity , that could be like biking, hiking, or lawn tennis....
and that replenish thing they've mentioned is false!

"Gatorade is a non-carbonated sports drink marketed by the Quaker Oats Company, a division of PepsiCo."
Electrolytes.

As you sweat either "during" or "after" a workout then your body has depleated itself of water, sugar, salts, minerals etc.
Gator replenishes many of these.

I am a High school wrestling coach and wrestlers need to be hydrated to be certified we tell them NO GATORADE because it is a temporary body replenisher after the effects wear off you still have all the sugar left in you body to deal with that will later dehydrate you and cause a gain in weight. the best beverage hands down is water
