Would tea bags dated April 2001 still be good ?!

Question: What could possibly be wrong with them ?

Answers: What could possibly be wrong with them ?

I don't see why there would be a problem, perhaps it won't be a strong cup of tea or something like that, but I'm just guessing. There must be a valid reason why there is a best before date. Tea isn't very expensive, so perhaps best if you dump and replace them, or give some to your mother-in-law for Chraistmas. I definately wouldn't drink a cup, not for all the tea in china.

try it and see :D

just dont get cholera or something..

A bit stale, maybe, but the water should freshen 'em up a bit. Anything that doesn't stink or look mouldy is probably okay. They only put the dates on to make you buy more stuff.

tea bags are like fine wine, they only improve with age

They should be unless the package has water staining or if you see evidence of 6-legged critters.

Black tea is fermented and dried, so they last quiet a while

not sure.... i know you cant use flour too far past its date because you get little bug things living in it - not sure about tea....... if they were still ok then why date them for 2001 and not 2007? mind you, you are probably drinking your cup of tea right now so its probably too late... such a shame! im sure you were a nice person...............

I would try them and see...they may even taste better after a bit of 'maturing' ! :)

They weren't good then, I hear that soon thet will be put into nylon bags.

Make a cup, try it and if it tastes stale, you will have your answer.. They most probably will be OK. The government are making more money for the manufacturers, by putting those dates on, mostly things people throw away are perfectly alright..

They won't kill you, but they are stale and won't have the best flavor as fresh tea.

Only if they haven't been used.

tea lasts a long time. In fact, there are tea cakes found from ancient times in china that would still be good to brew with.

Won't hurt you - might lose flavor though. Loose tea properly stored lasts about two years. Tea bags even properly stored last about a year.

Good god, don't be so cheap. Throw them out. A box of 100 Lipton teabags costs about $4.
