Question: When getting tea bags of mate de coca can you break open the tea bags and brew it like loose leaf tea? It seems as though it would be stronger this way. How many tea bags do you usually use?

you should use 1 tea bag per 8oz of water, I open the tea bags and use them directly in my espresso machine.
5 coca tea bags will make 2 cups of the strongest coca-espresso shot ( that is powerful)
Depending of the brand also, some coca teas are finally crushed almost like powder (Lupi and Windsor) and MacMat and Delise have larger flakes.

It is easier to just leave the tea bags in the jar or pot or you can get an ice tea bodum or pitcher http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Ceylon-Ice-M...
they work great with ice coca tea.
Dont forget a bit of splenda and a twist of lemon!
