Do you own a tap water filter?!

Question: Which one would you recommend and why?

Answers: Which one would you recommend and why?

I purchased an AMERICAN STANDARD brand several years ago. It is an under the sink unit. The unit information claims it is a whole house filtration system, but I would be changing the filters very frequently in this area if I had installed it as such. (also quite a challenge to change the filters where the unit would have had to be mounted for that usage.)
I am very pleased with the resulting water we get from the filter. I change the insert cartridge about every 6 months. It takes about 10 minutes total to change and the cartridges are under $5.00 I believe. Oh, the initial outlay was about $25.00

I don't own one but am interested in the answers you get here. I have always had one concern with these products. If you don't change the filter in a timely manner, then all of the scum that had already been filtered (and is living in the unchanged filter) will begin to find it's way back into the water at higher levels than the normal tap water. I am completely skeeved at the thought of that

I have a PUR filter...only because they sell them cheap at Sam's Club. I also have a Brita pitcher. So I use the PUR filter to fill the Brita pitcher.....double filtering my drinking water. I like to drink water during the day while I'm in my car, so I refill my bottle water after I run them through the bottle sanitizer.

No...I'm not a clean freak...but those reusable water bottles collect more germs in them, so I just use the other bottles a couple of times then throw them in the recycle. You can save a lot of money on bottled water that way....and it is even filtered more my way than what you buy in the store.

no

I've been using the Culligan reverse osmosis system for years now and it really like it.

I like the Brita pitcher rather than the on the tap because you can change them very quickly and inexpensively. I've had a PUR tap water filter and had a hard time locating replacement filters, plus it had to be disassembled and reattached.

no i do not have a tap water filter

i've had a Brita pitcher for years and I like it. I've never had interest in the one you attach to your faucet.

Depends on where you are. I used to live in Big Bear Lake, CA and the tap water there was just natural spring water from the aquifers with just a little chlorine just to keep stuff safe and it tasted great. Now I live in Bullhead City, AZ and the water is very hard here so everyone uses soft water tanks or Reverse Osmosis filters.
