A&W out of a fountain. It has too much carbonation in a bottle, I love fountain A&W though.

Abita Root Beer is by far the best. way better than barqs, aw, mug or ibc. made with cane sugar. if you ever get the chance to try it, you'll like it. Bottled in Abita Springs, Louisiana. about 45 minutes north of New Orleans

In cans, Ramblin' was best.
Though I remember "Dad's", and I've made some great root beer myself, I'll go for any decent cold root beer with a hunk of vanilla ice cream floating on top.
But then, go for whatever root beer floats yer boat.
It's the grand-pappy of sodas, and it's an honest drink.
A&W (i like mine with a few scoops of ice cream, yum!)

A&W for me...
Saranac. It's a "microbrewed" rootbeer. Very rich and creamy. They're better known for their beer but their rootbeer is fantastic. I'm not sure if it's available outside the northeast or NY state.
