Does COFFEE make you more tired sometimes....???!

Question: Sometimes Coffee has the opposite affect on me and makes me tired rather than wakes me up.
It's not the sugar because it's not that sweet.

Why is that?

Hi Mikey, I'm not sure...it does the same thing to me also....But then sometimes it wires me out of my brain....go figure. Mabe when you are just really, really tired it takes more of a toll on your body than it helps? Kisses!

because your body spikes on caffine and then crashes back to where you were so you feel more tired.

It is the caffeine. Usually you will get a "caffeine high," where you will be hyper and energetic for a bit. As soon as it wears off, you crash and become very lethargic.

When you drink coffee you body releases chemicals that makes you lively and energetic. If you drink too much you basically use up all of those chemicals and your body goes into shut down.

I think too much wears your adrenal glands out or something. Also, if you are drinking lots of coffee and not drinking enough water you may feel tired. For some reason I find chai tea to be a better caffeine high with less burn out. It has to be the old school potent stuff though.
