Do you have an effective way to keep energy up with a vegetarian diet?!

Question: I basically have become a walking tub of goo over the past two years, going from 170lbs to 205lbs. I guess eating chocolate ice cream and watching TV while lying on the couch makes you put on weight. Who knew? ;)

One things I've done over the past two weeks is cutting out meat from my diet. I've dropped 5 pounds just from this, and it's been great up to this point.

Anyway, I'm starting to do my old boxing work-out (I used to be an amateur boxer). I remember when I was doing this before, I would want to DEVOUR hamburgers and steaks after work-outs.

What might work in place of red meat? Those of you who are active athletically, what do you do to keep energy?

Also, I'm not vegan, so cheese and eggs are part of the equation.

Thanks.

Eat food. It usually gives you energy and the nutrients you need.

Google flexitarian diets. The flex diet might be what you're looking for.

flax lentils and whey protein.
make a nice trip to your local earthy crunchy super market.

There are lots of high-protein "fake meat" products that are actually really good! You can get more protein in your daily diet by eating meat substitutes or tofu than you would eating a steak.
As for the energy, I drink lots of caffeine! Very unhealthy, I know. :)

Eggs and cheese are a good way to keep up the protein which is necessary in any diet. Also make sure you have some foods with iron, which is in a lot of the 'blood' in red meat. You may also consider a vitamin B complex supplement but you need to check with your doctor before you start taking supplements.

flax seed oil vitamin b12 go to the health food store you will find both.and drink plenty of green tea to keep your imune system going and you will be in your way to being a healthy vegaterian,
