Cosmetics tested on animals?!

Question: There's this website that tells you ALL the brands of products that are tested on animals and that are not

On the list of products not tested on animals it had said Wet n wild and also Almay

so i went to the store to buy their eyelinerr
The longer eyeliner by wet and wild had said Not tested on Animals
but the other eyeliner by the same companie didn't

does that mean that that specific eyeliner was tested on animals and the other one wasnt?

or does the whole companie never test on animals?

If the compassionate consumer site/caring consumer guide said they don't test on animals, they're speaking about the whole brand name/company. Many of them don't specify on packaging that they don't test on animals. Of course they should, considering its a selling point, but they don't.

Also, just for clarification, don't assume if something's on their list that it's vegan. Plenty of companies that don't condone or do animal testing have animal ingredients in their products.

This is the wrong forum for this question, it should be in Cosmetics, or Beauty.

PETA generally tells you what companies do not test on animals. I don't now if that is the site you went to.

Judging from PETA's website feature on Wet n Wild, it looks like the company doesn't test on animals at all. See: http://caringconsumer.com/contest_WetnWi...

If its on this list then its NOT tested on animals- http://caringconsumer.com/pdfs/companies...
I found the list on PETA2.com so if it was on there I know for sure its not tested on animals, unless Peta is lieing about products tested and not tested on animals.

A company can say their product is not tested on animals but we don't know if the ingredients that they make their product out of was tested on animals or not.
