Should I be a vegitarian?!

Question: What are the pros and cons of being one? I don't like many meats, but I love veggies.

Answers: What are the pros and cons of being one? I don't like many meats, but I love veggies.

Pros::
?you feel good about yourself every time you eat
?you can look at the slaughter animals and know you're not contributing
?it's actually a healthier diet if you make sure to do it healthfully
?you're less likely to get colds (my first cold season like this and i haven't gotten one at all yet!)
?you don't have to worry about every bite being a surprise

Cons
?you may have a craving for meat
?you have to deal with stupid people saying that you should be eating meat

I suggest that if you want to become one you buy a book and get educated about it. That way you become more motivated and you will do it healthy. Good luck! =) Oh, and here's some websites if you want:::

http://www.goveg.com
http://www.happycow.net
http://www.vegetarianteen.com (if you're a teen)

You liberals are supposed to be the ones who like to read more than we conservatives do! What bung! Report It

  • It's really based on your beliefs and personal tastes. Many healthy people are both vegetarians or non-vegetarians.

I would make sure to educate yourself where to get all your protein and nutrients without meat.

no you shouldn't, just keep on eating what you do, lots of vegies and a little protein, it's a well balanced diet, your body needs it!

You should choose what you want your life to be like!
Not ask random people. Some pros for vegitarians are you'll be saving thousands of animals every year. Some cons are youll never be able to taste meat ever again. And once your a vegiterian you can never go back to eating meat ever again.
    so choose! hope this helps!

well some veggipeople lose alot off weight and thats not good. but noone wants to think about a little pig getting slaughtered when your eating bacon for breakfast

I am not vegetarian but I have reduce the amount of meat I consume - most people eat about 3 times as much meat as they should - really you only need meat 1-3 times a week and portion size should be like a deck of cards...

in some countries they are lucky if they get meat once a month!! (they eat lots of beans and stuff instead)

I WOULD include Free Range Chicken eggs if you like eggs.. these are better for you than battery hen eggs too...

pros - its cheaper and healthier if you do it right
cons - its hard to do right....

Ask THIS poor soul, first! (see link below)

You CAN if you want. It's a decision for YOU to make. All the rest of us ask, however, should you chose this lifestyle, is not to rub it in our faces like you are something special.

Being a vegetarian isn't going to get you anywhere when it comes time to stand before your Maker and atone for your sins! We all fall short!

Your question reminds me again of this couple who were friends of an old GF's brother. They claimed loudly, to anyone who would bother to listen, that they were VEGANS! It made sense because he was skinnier than a rail, and she was fatter than a 300lb pig.

This was because, apparently, that "vegan" lifestyle of theirs. Sure, she ate no meat nor meat by-products of ANY kind, but candies, chips, and cookies are not forbidden by the definition of veganism. She ate potato chips by the handfulls! *laughter*

Eat your veggies, man! You'll be okay. Only a FOOL looks for approval from total strangers!

    BTW, it's spelled vegetarian.

I'm not because I like the tastes of meats and don't want to give it up.

However, don't believe the meat myth. Some will say you need it. You don't. You can get everything you need with a vegetarian diet, but you have to figure out how.

The best aspect is you can really minimize your footprint, or your impact on the planet by not eating meat. It takes a lot of resources to raise flesh. Much less for fruits and veggies. Buy organic. Stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup.

    Pros-
    -It lowers your chlosteral
-Easier to maintain a healthy weight
-Risks for most kinds of cancer are greatly reduced
-Animal products (which aren't organic) tend to be loading with all kinds of chemicals (hormones, antibiotics) which are harmful to you.
-Vegetarians save almost one hundred animal lives a year

    Cons
-Can be difficult to eat out, though most restaurants are willing to modify the food for you.
-Many people will "question" your diet.
-If you don't follow a balanced diet it may become harmful to your health

Remember there are different kinds of vegetarians.
Lacto-Ovo - still eats eggs and dairy products but no meat
Lacto - eats dairy products but no eggs or meat
Ovo- eats eggs but no dairy products or meat

There are also some "semi-vegetarians" I would suggest you start off with following a diet like the ones as followed because it will let you know if you can be a vegetarian:

Semi-vegetarianism — A diet in which the only animal flesh consumed is seafood and/or poultry.
Pescetarianism — A diet in which the only animals consumed are fish or other seafood.
Pollotarianism — A diet in which the only animals consumed are fowl and poultry.
Flexitarianism — A diet that consists primarily of vegetarian food, but that allows occasional exceptions.

I myself disliked the taste of many meats. The only thing I would eat were chicken and fish. Slowly chicken was excluded from my diet and same with fish. I just get grossed out by any meat now so that's why I've become a vegetarian.

The only one who knows is you.

It's healthier to be a vegetarian and you will live longer and not get the diseases other ppl get from eating meat. Although you will still get some diseases if you continue to eat dairy products.

It is ultimately your decision. You need to do some research into vegetarianism, so you can eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. I never cared for meat, poultry, or fish. I love most vegetables & grains. I do not consume much dairy or eggs.
I like tofu and tempeh, but refuse to eat 'meat' substitutes or soy cheese. I do try to eat as much organic and unprocessed food as well.

For a good source on combining foods for complete proteins, a good resource is 'Diet For A Small Planet' by Frances Moore Lappe. Other sources I would recommend are books by Adele Davis such as 'Let's Eat Healthy', 'Let's Raise Healthy Children', etc.

It makes you feel better about yourself, you feel accomplished. It makes your diet a little healthier(if you eat the right stuff) and personally, I proved to my family that I can do it. Some people will critisize you but IGNORE THE HATERS!lol

ive tried it , it is very hard meat has the protein we need and it is to hard to follow
