Dairy products are very bad for the health. It makes more sense in health terms to eat char-grilled fatty red meat or almost anything else than dairy products. Every patient i see who gives up dairy finds that their health improves a lot. I see the evidence for this every day.

Although i am vegetarian, i believe it is natural for humans to eat meat. It is not natural for adults to eat dairy products at all, or for anyone to consume dairy from a completely different species.

Although I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, I don't think that drinking milk is considered bad since it's not killing an animal, like you said. And no, milk is actually proven to help people lose weight!

well vegans cant but vegitarians can. im a vegitarian,

Yes, it can make you fat. That's because milk is intended to fatten up young calves.
it can also promote cancer and tumors and a host of other problems

Plus the dairy industry is just gross and inhumane: http://www.factoryfarming.com/dairy.htm

We were not meant to drink milk into adulthood and we certainly weren't meant to drink the milk of COWS.

Vegetarians drink milk, but vegans, like myself, don't eat, wear or use anything that comes from animals that have been killed/hurt.

hope it helps!

Some think it is and some don't. That's for you to decide, but I don't drink milk for these reasons::

1.) I don't believe it's for us, it's for the cows' baby calves, not adult humans.
2.) It's referred to as liquid meat by some scientists, yes it has a few benefits, but for the most part, it's not good for you. It gives acne, makes you feel sluggish, ect.
3.) The factory farm dairy cows conditions are no worse than the slaughter animals in factory farms. They get constantly artificially impregnated and then their babies are taken away so that we can drink their milk. Then they are hooked up onto machines.

Vegans don't drink milk, vegetarians do drink milk, r at least some of them. No, milk does not imply killing anyone... from an egg there could have hatched a chicken, but not so is the case with milk.
Milk can make you fat if you drink too much of it... but it's healthy, it's a good source of protein and calcium...

Vegans don't eat any meat or dairy products. They don't eat fish either. They also don't eat any candy or anything that isn't healthy. Vegetarians don't drink milk , but some do. Most ppl are vegans for health reasons, meaning they want to be healthy and not get diseases. Milk isn't healthy and it can make you fat. It's your choice of whether you will drink milk or not, but vegans don't drink milk and neither do true vegetarians. If you buy milk you are supporting animal abuse. Cows are tortured and have a horrible life just so we can drink their milk and eat them. You should watch the videos on meetyourmeat.com It's very sad what they go through.

vegetarians can. vegans cant they dont eat/drink andy dairy product.
BUT they can drink soya milk or rice milk or some other alternative.
if you drink milk in excess it can be unhealthy (as can anything)
But it is essential for teeth and bones

Vegetarians may choose to include milk in their diet because it's not a slaughter byproducts. Vegans, however, do not eat, use or wear anything of animal origin. So, no milk for vegans.

And yes, milk contains a high percentage of its calories from fat. Don't be fooled by labels like "2%" which are measuring fat by volume - 2% milk actually gets 35-40% of its calories from fat. As with anything, one single food won't make you fat or make you thin; it's all about how many calories you consume versus how many you expend.

its ok for vegetarians but not vegan

I have a few friends that are vegan or vegetarian. A vegetarian doesn't eat meat. A vegan is also a vegetarian, but they don't eat any animal byproducts. This means no milk, cheese, chicken broth, etc. They drink soy milk and eat soy dairy products as well as veggie burgers.

Milk is proven to help you loose weight, but you probably want skim or 1%. Organic milk is best because it doesn't have hormones in it. These hormones are not good for adults but they are especially not good for children. (see the first link) It doesn't show immediate effects but may cause cancer. (see the second link)

Vegans can't drink milk but vegetarians can.

Kyla---"don't eat, wear or use anything that comes from animals that have been killed/hurt."---you mean "try not to", as opposed to "don't" right? Vegans use animal products nearly everyday. They are "unavoidable".

Apparently, vegans cannot and will not consume any animal food which includes eggs and dairy products. some Vegetarians will allow themselves to ahve eggs and dairy 9and some will go as far as fish and seafood). Milk will not make you fat or out of shape as you call it when taken as a part of an over all healthy diet "vegetarian" or otherwise. For some people, especially many third world children, milk is the only source of protein. The reference to "animal cruelty"' (debatable at best) with regards to milk production mostly applies to supposed "facts" ( mostly hearsay and anecdotal)regarding the practices of western dairy farms and producers.

Milk contains growth hormones. Publix sells milk w/o it. I used to be a lot fatter when I still drank milk and ate diary. Now as a vegan my weight is super great.

okay. so you've got the vegans who don't eat, drink, or wear anything from animals. then you have ovo-vegetarians who eat eggs, lacto-vegetarians who drink milk, ovo-lacto-vegetarians (what most people just call vegetarians) who don't eat meat but do eat eggs and dairy products. and then there are pescatarians who eat fish....

but no. drinking milk does not take a life. and i guess it could make you fat... whole milk definitely. but i get a lot of my protein from dairy products so i'm not going vegan any time soon.

Vegans don't drink milk or eat eggs or eat honey. Vegetarians do. Milk is very good for you, but in moderation like everything else. Milk can be made from other things like soy beans or nuts or rice. That way vegans can get some of the protein their bodies need.

Vegans do not consume animals or their by products. If they did they wouldn't be vegans.

Dairy is vegetarian since nothing died for it but some vegetarians choose not to consume it for health reasons or they just don't like it.

Just consuming dairy will not make you fat and out of shape but it does contain a lot of fat. So it's not exactly a diet food no matter what that stupid commercial paid by the dairy co. says.

Whether you are taking life or not, listen to this first:
For cows to give milk, they need to be inseminated first. When they give birth to male calves, most of them are SHOT at birth because they will not grow to become milk-producing cows.
I've only got the UK statistics (I live in the UK), and every year 150,000 male calves born to dairy cows are being shot dead at birth. That's 411 male calves shot dead every day, and that's just UK. Those who are kept are sent to France and Italy to spend their short and miserable life in a veal crate.
Some 'lucky' female calves are kept to grow to replace their 'spent' female relatives, who are slaughtered at the age of 5 when their milk production is lower than before. However, cows could live up to 20 years.
It wouldn't be the fat or shape that worries me here. Do you still think consuming dairy products causes no deaths?

no vegans do not drink milk.

Vegans and Ovo-Vegetarians can't drink milk. Ovo-Vegetarians can, however, still consume eggs and honey.
