I need to clarify my last question about tofu?!
Answers: I like the taste of it in some things but it makes me nauseous when I eat it. I know I am not allergic to soy products because I eat them all the time. And I drink soy milk. Is there something different in tofu though than other soy products that could be making me sick?
maybe it's the way the tofu is cooked.
Sounds like you are not able to eat the soft version of tofu, which are used mainly in soups, puddings or desserts. Stick to the firmer or liquid types. You will be fine.
tofu upset my stomach til i learned how to cook it properly. all the recipes at the link below use tofu, so it might help.
The "save the day sloppy joe", "eggless salad sandwiches" and cherry "cheesecake" recipes are my faves!!!
Perhaps it's the texture... it reminds your body of that milk you had once that had gone bad...
Tofu is just hardened soy milk... so... nothing in it other than the coagulant gypsum or nigari usually.
I think it is "the look" of tofu. Just sitting there, quivering and glistening, it reminds me of the brain's grey matter sitting on a scale during an autopsy. . . quivering if moved and glistening.
