Although i`ve been vegan for nearly 25 years,i still dont feel completely happy with my diet.?!
Answers: Can someone tell me about a diet where i eat foods when they are in season,i think it`s a fruitarian diet but i`m not sure, and no it`s not one where you just eat fruit,ta.
Macrobiotic diet sounds more like what you want, plus cut out members of the belladonna family, spuds etc.Well done anyway, let meat eaters die earlier, let them turn their bodies into a graveyard if they want.
I my self am on a sort of diet, being a type two diabetic, and i say do as i do and say bugger it ,kick over the traces now
and then and eat what you fancy and like it.Certainly makes
happy when being a little bit naughty. lol
I tryed to be Vegan but I couldn't but as a Vegan or Vegetarian, i offer the the food to the Lord krishna, before eat it, so it become Karma-free - a spiritual food, not only materially healthy - and thus make me feel happy.
Sorry, I don't have the answer for what you asked.
What does it mean to not be completely happy with your diet? It is your diet. You would think that a smart person would figure out what their body needs to survive in 25 years. There is no name for the diet you are referring to when you eat seasonal produce. It is a choice to make within the vegan diet you already have.
Why do you need to identify with a diet name? Come up with your own and write a book about it and make $$$$!
And by the way, a fruitarian is someone who only eats fruit (and yes many vegetables are fruit!). And many fruitarians have made the choice of eating organic, local, and in season produce, and many other fruitarians have not.
You need to be more specific in your question. Is there any health issues you need to address? Is there any dietary deficiencies you need to take into account? Are you just not feeling it? with the vegan choice that is.
Eating foods in "Season" means when a food is harvested Local or Regional not shipped long distant so you can eat it. EXAMPLE: winter if where you live there is no tomato crop you don't eat them or you use a can or frozen product. But at the same time there is an abundance of Acorn Squash then you eat more of them.
Many young people haven't a clue on this because we have an incredible array of foods SHIPPED in to us from all over the world now. Us "oldsters" remember when those things were not readily available to the average consumer. I remember an Orange in my Christmas stocking, because it was so dear(costly) to have in the winter, now a child gets citrus fruit year round.
Slainté(to your health)
I think you're looking for a more macrobiotic diet. I could go into a crazy amount of detail about this but I'll just cover the basics:
This diet includes the consumption of mainly local foods (this is a relative idea when considering urban areas) as well as being local, foods need to be in season...which comes pretty naturally if you're buying organic and locally.
Chewing your food thoroughly is another key to the good macrobiotic diet.
Japanese and Chinese cultures incorporate the ideas of Yin and Yang into their foods assigning feminine and male qualities to certain food items. You would eat more Yang in the Winter to balance out the cold and more Yin in the Summer to balance out the hot.
I generally hate wiki but here:
What your are describing is eating locally. Some of the easiest and best ways to do this are to shop at farmers markets and support CSA programs.
CSA (community supported agriculture) is a way for the consumer to be connected with a particular farm and to receive produce from the farm. Generally, your purchase a share, and every week you get a large basket of produce. The produce is what is grown and in season at that farm. It can be a fun challenge to receive your basket and then figure out what meals to make of the local, in season ingredients of the week. Some CSAs require you to work at the farm for a certain number of hours, but not most. You can always go to the farm and visit, though. CSAs give you a stake in that particular farm and connect you in a way that buying locally grown foods from a mainstream supermarket never can.
For more information and to find a CSA program near you, visit:
http://www.localharvest.org/csa/
You can incorporate a macrobiotic diet (as suggested above), for example, with participation in a CSA program. So, if you would like to start a raw foods or macrobiotic diet and also focus on regional food, the two options I suggested would actually support and enhance these types of diet.
if you are not happy then there is nothing here for you...
