Vegetarians answere this question?!

Question: i am a vegetarian and i do not hate meat eaters but when they start saying meat is healthy isnt that ignorance of the fact that the meat industry has caused more deaths than auto industry and natural storms put together? people always say meat provides protein well so does beans and a bunch of other stuff

they also say meat is good well yea if its good why is it killing you?

they also say we are DESIGNED to eat meat

which is not true because of our grinding teeth regardless of the dull kanine tooth and our intestines that are shaped like herbivores

do you guys get bugged like this or is it just me?

I didn't hear it much until I had a kid. I never really cared until then either. People get on my case for "forcing" my kid to be a vegetarian rather than letting him make the decision for himself. Most people are convinced that I'm robbing him of some great enjoyment and health benefits.
My kid is the healthiest toddler I've ever seen and has never once in his life has fast food or hot dogs, or anything else that's super unhealthy that most kids eat all the time. One of his favorite foods are steamed collard greens, how many parents can say that.
Vegetarianism is the best choice I've made for my family, and I hear it all the time from stranger and I'm sick of it. I respond only with "his doctor says he has a healthy diet", the rest of the argument is usually them arguing pretty much with themselves.
And you're right, we're not designed to eat meat. Our intestines are too long, carnivore intestines are much shorter.

I've only been veg for just under six years, and nobody has tried to convince me meat is healthy. And I'm quite grateful for that.

No, most of the people I talk to "like" meat and don't wish to give it up.

I get bugged by this, but if you really think about it, we are all ignorant in at least ONE subject area. If the person you're talking to happens to be ignorant on the health benefits of vegetarianism, it's their loss!
But for the most part, yes, it does bother me.

My brother is like that, it bugs me, but he does it to make me mad. He wants a reaction from me. I've learned to ignore it. I say "whatever floats your boat. I really don't care what you do." and don't respond to it anymore.

Some days it bothers me, some days it doesn't. Right now I'm not too bothered. :P
What I don't get though is so many people are getting sick off of tainted meat, it seems to me meat just isn't fit for human consumption.

I used to but just dont let it get to you...they have thier own opinion too so just leave it at that. Besides, its not like you can change the world by getting angry at everyone who disagrees with you.
good luck! :]

Yes this bothers me a lot.
Especially when people say "Turkey is good for you, it's not that fattening". erg fat has nothing to do with the chemicals and hormones and crap!

huh?

If you mind your own business and don't argue or get into debates, no one will bug you. If you're the in-your-face holier-than-thou type, then you will get a lot of it.

Yes I get bugged.
It is tough to deal with Ignorance. But unless a person wants to learn there is no use speaking on this subject. In fact I find it as bad a Religion & Politics.
Just remember there are 60+ years of this bad information & PR out there. You & I are not going to get through too the rabble.
