I told my friend I wanted to be a vegetarian but...?!

Question: It's too complicated and I am not in the family situation to be a vegetarian. How do I tell her I'm not anymore?

Tell her you have became a flexitarian. You still get a cool title and can eat some meat at your discretion.

You just have to out-right tell her.
Say your just not ready for that type of commitment.
Being Vegetarian is a huge commitment and i'm sure she won't hold it against you that you can't handle it right now.

Tell her you've changed your mind, or that you've decided to think about it for a while longer. You could tell her what you've told us - it's too complicated right now.

Please don't worry about it, this is your decision and your business. If she makes you feel bad about it, she's not a friend

Being a vegetarian is not very complicated but if it's a lifestyle you cannot accommodate right now:

Vegetarianism is like sexual orientation in that it's really no ones business but your own. Why feel the need to tell your friend at all? You don't need permission.

Just be honest with her. I'm sure she bases her friendship on more than your eating habits. Not everyone feels ready to take on vegetarian eating and a lot of people aren't ready but might change their minds later as they get the time to do their research on the diet.
My husband is pretty sure it isn't something he would do well with. He has a really limited amount of vegetables he will eat and he really likes meat in his diet. He also doesn't like beans and says "ick" to most whole grains. We do fine, cooking side by side. When we have a big meal for a holiday, we just make sure that there is a variety of foods to pick from for both our dietary likes.

Tell her the truth. You are not in a place in your life right now to pursue this. You hope to in the future.
Many young people have this deal, it is hard to do when you have little control over your environment. Between now & the time you'll be able to do this Self Educate. Get on line, get books from the Library & teach your self the hows & whys to being a healthy Veggie.

Not eating dead animals is too "complicated"? I grew up vegan with two omnivorous parents, so the "family" situation comment is pretty weird, too. Just tell her you're sorry, you'd like to be different and get attention, but you don't have the balls.

ask her if she wants some kfc. then shove it in her mouth. then u guys can be non vegaterians together!
