What info do you have for a recent vegetarian?!
Answers: Sunday I decided to stop eating meat and become a vegetarian. Is there more to it than not eating meat? The only animal I will eat has to be apart of seafood. I know there are different types so I want to make sure I qualify.
Yup, that's all there is to it. Congratulations.
Don't worry about "qualifying" for anything. People will tell you that you cannot eat this or that, in order to be called something. Don't worry about labels. Just set up your diet the way you feel best for you.
First of all, you realize that seafood still involves the killing of animals, and that there are many types of vegetarians, vegan being the most restricting doesn't allow any type dairy, honey, meat, poultry, eggs, or seafood
I used to be one but I got tired of all the gas caused by the high consumption of rice and beans!
A "true" vegetarian does not eat any living creature, nothing that ever had a face. This includes fish and shellfish. You can find a lot of suggestions and recipes for vegan/vegetarians on the Internet. You can be healthy on a vegetarian diet but you need to take in protein from other sources like beans, soy products, legumes, also a diet that includes vegetables and fruit. Good Luck and I hope this doesn't discourage you.
Yes, you're a vegetarian. Vegetarians who eat eggs are ovo vegetarians, if you eat milk products you are a lacto vegetarian, and if you eat fish/seafood you are a pesco vegetarian. You can also have ovo lacto vegetarian, lacto pesco vegetarian, etc.
I'm an ovo lacto pesco vegetarian, I have to eat fish etc for health reasons. My mom is a doctor, she said it's not a good idea for me to cut out all animal protein until i stop growing because i need the B12. It's still good for the cause though, because Americans eat more mammal meat than fish, so I'm helping offset the supply and demand for mammal meat. Even if you just eat less meat, you're still helping!
Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your "veggie experience" lol :)
You will hear a lot of suggestions, commnts and condemnations here with regards to your choice. the fanatics will tell you that you cannot call yourself a vegetarian because you eat seafood (as if they are a law enforcing vegetarian "police"). My advice to you is to follow your own needs and values and not let anybody dictate what you should and should not do, what you should call yourself and what you should not call yourself. Be comfortable with yoru choice and do it for yourself not for some mindless fanatic on the internet bent of enforcing their values on others. Good luck
