I was thinking about going vegetarian...is it healthy?!
Answers: i want to just not eat meat....but how can i stay healthy...like with protein and that stuff? is anyone a vegetarian?? are there any easy recipes??
yea it is healthy. u can eat beans, tofy, soy beans, and there are lots of vegan/vegetarian substitutes ---> veggie chicken nuggets, veggie hot dogs/hamburgers, tofurkey. they all taste good too.. people who eat meat generally have higher immunity, but vegetarians are definately healthy. a lot of candies have meat products in them, such as skittles, mnms, any gummi candy, snickers. also most cheeses and sour creams have rennet (calf). usually the veggie chicken nuggets have eggs, but most people aren't that concerned about not eating eggs.. because they think that eggs are not meat. (and fish) which, by the way, is a misconception. eggs and fish both are meat. anyways, yea so if you want to be vegetarian, i say go for it!!!
if i have to convince you to be vegetarian then i dont believe that this is the lifestyle for you
if you do not know if its healthy then that tells me you have not researched it and that it does not matter to you
you can get protein from many different forms not just meat
if you become a vegetarian and you take care of your body by still eating proteins, it's fine.
go on peta2.com for some goo drecipes and tips.
vegetarian can be very healthy for you. Protein wise you can have milk, cheese, tofu, beans, brocolli are all packed with protein. Stay away from frying any of it or it will lose all its benefits.
There are a ton of easy vegetarian recipes on the net and in cookbooks just google it.
Go ahead and give it a shot ... if you like that pale, sickly look. They can blather all they want about alternate protein sources and nonsense, but nothing can replace the meat that human beings, as omnivores, are so clearly intended to consume.
I'm a vegetarian and it is healthy as far as i know. You may have to get protein supplements. Protein is very important when you're a vegetarian because not many fruits and vegetables have it. The only one i know is edamame (soy beans)
Not really. If you want a well-balanced diet that is easy, ethical and allows you to have a life beyond just foraging for food, Google "Flexitarian Diets" and check out the website.
Flexitarian vegetarians make up most of the world's vegetarians. Strict vegetarians/vegans are old-fashioned and dying out.
Being a strict vegetarian also means your friends will give you a hard time and most of the time you will be "outside" of the group as being "odd", different, and not to be associated with. You will find "veggie dweebs" you can be friends with, but who wants to be with nerds? That is so freaking "uncool", dear.
It is as healthy or unhealthy as any other UNBALANCED diet. If you going to pig out on deep fried veg*n stuff or process veg*n food or eat fatty veg*n stuff then indeed its not going to be any better than a meat based diet that has the same stuff.
The key is balance make sure you have the right supplements and have the right amount of fats and stuff.
You better know what you are doing youngster, or for sure you are going to ruin your health. I studied and researched before I made the plunge into a flexitarian diet about 4 years ago. I don't have to take any supplements either and my plant/fruit-based component of my diet is between 80-90% of my total diet. Plus I NEVER eat any of that processed "burger", tofurkey, junk. That stuff will kill you.
It's very healthy. According to the American Dietetic Association (one of the nation's leading authorities on diet and nutrition): "...appropriately planned vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases....Vegetarian diets offer a number of nutritional benefits, including lower levels of saturated fat, cholesterol, and animal protein as well as higher levels of carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, potassium, folate, and antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and phytochemicals. Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer."
If you eat a varied diet of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains, you should have no problem getting enough protein. Some good protein sources are almonds, black beans, brown rice, cashews, chickpeas, lentils, peanut butter, pinto beans, seitan, soybeans, soymilk, sunflower seeds, tofu, and mock meats (like veggie burgers).

Good luck!
I'm a vegan since conception and have never been sick with even a cold. I find it odd that people who eats fresh fruits and veggies face more "health" questions than do those who eat McDonald's 3x/wk.
I like burritos- tortillas, beans (NOT meat-based), rice, guacamole, salsa, and japlapenos. Easy to make, and always yummy.
Good luck!
