What do you vegans have to eat when your not in the mood to cook?!

Question: Im so used to "lets order a pizza, lets drive down to mcdonalds, or the ever popular chinese food. But since we have changed our eating habitats, we have had to cook a lot more, which is fine, but today I dont feel like it and Im not in the mood for a salad.

Any suggestions?

I am a vegan, work and go to school so preparing anything is a chore. I consume many fruits and veggies that are easy to chow on for ex grapes, apples, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado, plum, lettuce, spinach, chard, cilantro, and parsley because I don't have to fight with it. Another thing that can be quick is canned beans. Something simple is cucumber, and avocado with sea salt.

I throw together simple salads that do not take too much time for example I had cilantro with northern beans (can), onions, a little olive oil, sea salt and lemon juice.

I tend to throw together noodle soup when I feel for cooked foods but do not want to waste the time. Yesterday I had some boiled bok choy and the sauce I made was with mirin, braggs amino sauce (you can use soy sauce), ginger (minced), garlic (minced), and I juiced a little daikon and ginger to give it more flavor. It took about 10 to 15 minute, I spent more time waiting for the water to boil before i added the bok choy, I only let the bok choy boil for about 5 minute and sauce takes me 3 to 5 minutes, for extra bulk I add shirataki noodles to the meal.

I don't see why you have to give up chinese. I don't see anything unfriendly about fried rice, or lo mein, or veggie chow mein or chop suey.

Or pastas with marinara sauce, or a nice quality garlic infused olive oil.

Vegan Boca burgers, middle eastern food: falafel & hummus.

For minimal cooking, try a hodgepodge of frozen vegetables mixed with nuts and spices. Add some couscous, which only takes minutes to prepare, and you're done.

Fruit and a handfull of nuts....

When I'm (or my mom) are not in the mood to cook, I normally eat a hand full or two of Soybeans. Since they are high in protien you don't need to eat alot to fill a meal, and they taeste VERY good!!

Stirfry with Tofu, Brocolli, Mushrooms, Veggie Burgers, Nacho - Refried Beans, Pita/Hummus, you can actually make pizza with Tortia/Pizza Sauce/Cheese/ and toppings.
hope this helps

Because I'm usually too broke to go out, I cook up a pot of plain beans and then refrigerate them. When I need something fast, I make a sandwich with the beans and season them on the sandwich. I also hit the peanut butter and crackers every so often. Also I like to keep some fresh cut up veggies and bean dip on hand.

I'm not vegan, I'm vegetarian, but I'm rarely in the mood to cook. Canned vegetable soup, canned beans, canned pasta. Spaghetti and a can of pasta sauce take no time time to prepare.

Depends on what you have at home.I usually eat a Peanut butter & Jelly/ Honey sandwitch with some Cape Cod Chips and some pickels .Yum Yum.
Or order some veggie sushi with seaweed salad .

Can of refried beans mixed with some onions plus some enchilada sauce; add cheese if not vegan. Quickest.

I have a great vegan chinese takeaway near me. Sometimes I'll get pizza express pizza which is vegan as long as I have it without cheese. A lot of takeaways will have vegan options but they aren't great. If my family want fish and chips then i'll just order chips (which are cooked separately from the fish at my local place) and then i'll just cook or fry myself a veggie burger in 10 minutes to go with it.

When I can avoid it though, I don't like buying my dinner so if I really can't be bothered to cook then i'll get something quick out of the freezer like veggie burgers, sausages or nuggets and make them in the oven. Frozen veg only takes a few minutes to cook in the microwave. If I don't feel like eating something unhealthy though i'll microwave something from the freezer that I've made previously. Whenever I cook I'll usually make more than I need and then freeze them for another day. Pasta and soups are particularly easy to freeze and reheat in the microwave.

if i'm not cooking my husband has a clif bar or cereal. so he can't have brown rice either? that's our main grain.

I keep a stash of frozen meals (Amy’s has a good selection) and some canned items like vegetarian chili and soups. They may not be as healthy as cooking from scratch, but it’s a lot better than stopping at a fast food place.

Um... actually I eat pizza and chinese food. They're both very easy to veganize.

But another standby is burritos: tortillas, rice, beans (NOT meat-based) guacamole, salsa, and jalapenos. Very easy to make, and filling.
