Vegan. Was originally vegetarian - I was brought up that way.

"vegans are kindof stupid because it doesnt hurt a cow to give you milk. or a chicken to give you an egg!" - Ally

I became vegan because I realised this isn't strictly true. Hens are sometimes battery-farmed to get eggs (they're packed tightly into a coop, not allowed to move about).

And milk... the way its produced is by getting a cow pregnant. A cow will produce milk for about 300 days after giving birth, then stop, so it has to be made pregnant again.
Cow gives birth about 5 times in its life.

5 babies.. the female ones can be used as dairy cows... but the male ones? VEAL - turned into meat. The farmer simply can't affford to bring them all up, especially since they're of no use to him - he only needs one bull to get the cows pregnant (its mostly artificial insemination).

So by drinking milk, you increase the supply of male cows that are killed for meat.

health and because i love animals so much
but i didnt function as well. so now im a flexitarian

Lost my appetite for meat randomly. For some reason it just doesn't taste good anymore...so! I'm only vegetarian, I strongly support bee hives (honey is just awesome!).

im not one but some people are cause it is less calories or they are against killing animals.

im a vegetarian. vegans are kindof stupid because it doesnt hurt a cow to give you milk. or a chicken to give you an egg! so....vegetarian!

I am almost a vegan, definitely vegetarian, and my reason is because it is a healthier lifestyle in general....also, after going to www.goveg.com, that totally sealed the deal for me, I mean I have been a veg. for like 6 years now though, but that made me become more of a vegan too! trust me, being vegetarian saves innocent animal's lives and you will feel healthier! Give it a try!

Taste aversion.

meat is murder!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugggh... the meat industry, especially beef, these days is immensely cruel. I try and avoid eating meat when I can, but my dad is an old-fashioned canuck, so meat for dinner a lot. Oh well.

Because that's what I've been since childhood so it becomes the natural choice.

i don;t think its nice to slaughter animals.

if ppl who eat meat had to watch the animals they ate being slaughtered and cut and ripped open and gutted and cleaned i do not think they would eat it any more.

plus vegan is healthier!

couse food that is good includes meat
peace out

I'm a vegan. I do it for the cool title.

Out of respect for animals. I don't believe that we were placed on this planet to rule the animals but to care for them. I feel we already use animals for everything and I personally do not want to use them for food or clothing as well. I am not one of those over zealous animal rights people who think meat eaters are the spawn of satan, but I do hope to live in a world someday where we can live with the animals side by side rather than placing ourselves above them at every opportunity. We think we have dominion over the animals, but I know we wouldn't be able to live without them (since we use them for food, clothing, work, fuel, etc).

I read a book by Victoria Moran called, "Compassion, The Ultimate Ethic (An exploration of veganism)" I had no idea what the book was about. It attracted me simply because of a drawing on the cover of a little boy with a lion and a few other animals.
It had a deep effect on me. I started behaving as if it were a sin to eat meat. I would even preach to certain people that it was wrong to eat meat. After a year of being a vegan I quit for several reasons. I'm a Christian and eating meat is allowed. Secondly I want to be huge and I won't get huge on a vegan diet.

I don;t eat much red meat, but chicken / eggs are one thing i can't let go of. I see the kind heartedness factors of being a vegetarian / vegan however it seems liek a lot of them don't eat well / sufficiently. I'm in weights trying to get in really good shape, and i don't think that would be possible without a hearty well balanced diet. So, I'm almost a vegetarian, besides the massive amounts of chicken / eggs i eat. mmmm goood eating

It just feels right to me. Even though I don't have any real moral objections to meat from some sources (I have considerable moral objections to meat from other sources, but never mind), I don't really have any taste for it lately.

Same goes for dairy and eggs, eggs especially. I'm just slowly losing my taste for them.

For the animals. The health benefits are great too though.

Honestly? I never liked meat - I always that it was horrid to kill then eat an animal. But what helped me make my decision to become vegetation was that I had an older brother and sister who were.
I've now been I vegetarian since I was nine, and I have no regrets.

I think being vegan is a little extreme personally, but my friend jenny she is vegan because she watched alot of videos on animal rights websites about milk and dairy things and she was disgusted. i personally don't eat meat because i think its gross to eat anything that had a face or a heart. theres lots of reasons for lots of different people, but i think that a main factor for everyone is the animal cruelty. i dont think i could ever go vegan... too extreme for me like i said. i couldnt handle having to take alot of vitamins n crap... but i appluad those who can do it, it just shows they're extremely dedicated to animal rights.

WELL I JUST GET GROSSED OUT ...AND THINK OF THE ANIMAL ..AND FEEL BAD ..AND THE BLOOD ...AWWWWWW IM GONNA YUCK NOW ..

Vegetarian, because meat makes me sick

Originally because I loved animals. Now because I wouldn't eat my dog, I wouldn't hesitate to injure someone who hurt my pets, and I'd feel hypocritical condoning that in my lifestyle; I also now know milk is meant for calves, and eggs are meant for chickens.

What is your reason for being Vegetarian or Vegan?

An ideology-vegetarian (religious faith) would not able to inspire others to be a vegan/vegetarian, even their own kids. Of course the religious always has the fundamental of scientifical and philosophical docrine which not everyone been tought nowadays.

So, are you on a philosophical reason??
Than, you must be a PHILOSOPHY-VEGAN....non-violence to any beings in any nature, and peace.

Even depriving the egg/baby from her mom is wrong. Egg/baby is precious to all beings nevertheless the weak and defenseless.

Modern dairy farming is cruel, not sacred, and contained dozens of hormones and chemicals. These cows are short-life, sent to slaughterhouse after 10 years of productive period.

Captivating and prisoning animal and fish also a psychological human denial of of slavery and cruelty.

But you can become a vegetarian first. Gradually you can stop using egg, dairy, fur and leather.

Finally....

A true man of wisdom is someone who inspire others to share his value. Otherwise, is a selfish.

1. A plant based diet is natural.
2. A plantbased diet is healthy.
3. I'm not consuming blood, pus, sh*t, and steroids.
4. My $ isn't funding horrific animal torture.

My parents are vegetarian so I'm affected and yeah, religion is also one of the reason but not the main one.

I don't like the taste of growth hormones and antibiotics in my food.
Its very unhealthy and unnecessary to consume animal products.

Athletics was my first reason. Increased endurance, strength, recovery time, etc. I was just converting from a poor diet to a healthy diet. The word vegetarian or vegan etc. never entered into it. What I wanted was to be as natural a human as possible, according to biology. It just turns out that humans are herbivores and herbivores eating a herbivore diet living in a society filled with herbivores that eat non-herbivore diets such as eating meat etc. are called vegans.

I lost my taste and craving for meat. I do like my milk and eggs though.

look at this guys myspace, he has alot on being vegan
