How did you eventually become vegetarian?!
Answers: was it a process or cold turkey??
Cold turkey. We didn't eat a lot of meat in my home because my mom was trying to stretch a really tight grocery budget, but we weren't limiting meat for any reason other than economics. But one day I read a book with a series of essays outlining several reasons for going vegetarian. It all just clicked and I never ate meat again.
I just eased into it.
I went to boarding school where they didn't serve meat!
so the whole time I had serious cravings for chicken, lol.
But after awhile of not having it it becomes fine. Theres also alot of alternative fake meats now that taste very real!
After years of inactivity..... oh,sorry, that's how I became a vegetable.
For me it was a process. I didn't even realize it until later. I just stopped liking meat.
I kept seeing these cows in a field everyday coming home from work, a lot of times they were playing with each other and it made me start thinking "I don't want to eat them." Then a couple of weeks later I had stopped at a fast food joint and got a burger, I was two bites into it and was stopped at a stoplight. Just ahead of me was a truck hauling a couple of cows, they just stared at me with those big eyes, I didn't finish that sandwich and I haven't had cows since. Then with pigs, I knew a guy, pretty big tough older dude, he came over to my place one day and said he started a new job that day at a pig farm. He said that the people in there hit the pigs for no reason and picked up the piglets, chopped their nuts off and threw them across the room. He quit the job immediatley after seeing that, and that made me quit eating pigs. With chickens I saw the footage of factory farms and also with turkeys and fish. Pretty easy to do after all that.
I was thinking about it for a while then i just thought to myself today is the day and ive not had meat since
It was a process for me.
I stopped eating beef one week, then the next week I stopped eating pork, etc. until I wasn't eating any meat at all.
Also, some people eat vegetarian meals one day a week, then the next week they eat vegetarian meals two days a week, etc. until they are eating nothing but vegetarian food every day of the week.
After watching a footage on how they kill cats in China.
completely disturbing and I have not had any meat ever since.
I was having health problems (IBS) and stopped eating a Philly favorite, Cheesesteaks. Then I stopped all beef one day after an unappealing fast food burger...
Next I cut out pork, and again a fast food chicken sandwich did in poultry.
My IBS has been much better, but I still have not given up seafood, as my Vegetarian girlfriend says that I need more protein in my diet. (She stopped 25 years ago, but eats no meat.)
I attempted it many years ago, after hearing a doctor tell me it was the most healthy way to eat, with my entire family and found that I was the only one eating the food. I stopped, thinking it was too difficult to be on a certain diet alone, and cooking seperate meals.
Just a month and a half ago, my doctor told me that I should try it again. By now I had diabetes and arthritis to add to my list of bad health and a serious need to lose weight now that I'm in a wheelchair and not as active. I decided that my family can join if they wish, it doesn't matter, really, I need it to be healthy even if they don't have the same desire for themselves. (my children are in their late teens and adult)
well i never really ate meat to begin with. the only meat i did eat was fast food cheeseburgers from burger king and wendys. than in 6th grade i found out what this meat came from and i'm like i can't eat an animal so i became a vegetarian for animal reasons.
