Veggie or vegans--how do you get more protein in your diet?!

Question: cat food.

Answers: cat food.

TOFU!!!

tofu is the way

vegetable have protein

beans, they have more if not the same protein as meat

I'm vegetarian and you can gain protein by certain pills which help or you can buy some products from Linda Mccartney or Quorn. It's meat substitute and has protein in it.

peanut-butter

You eat beans and legumes and cheeses

I'm not personally a vegetarian or a vegan, but my uncle is and tofu is the way to go...He eats it allllll the time, and he was talking to me about what some alternatives were, and he said that tofu is HIGH in protein for veggies or vegans.

What does TOFU stand for exactly?

One of the simplest ways is to buy dehydrated soy protein. It looks kind of like little granules of pasta. It's quite cheap and if you follow the package directions, swells up quite well and goes a long way. It doesn't really taste like anything so you can add it to just about everything!

A veggie can get it from Eggs, and dairy prodice. As well as fish
A Veggie wont eat any dairy produce so pulses are good ie beans , any kind and green veg esp bananas and Avocados

Tofu or Beans!!! Beans are very high in protein

Nuts and legumes I just love nut breads and all kinds of beans. Hummus is super easy to make and really a great source of protein -1 can garbanzo beans, 2-3 cloves garlic, 1/4 cup olive oil, 4 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley put all in to a blender and puree until smooth - use as a dip or spread on sandwiches. you can add other stuff to it like sun dried tomato, olives, just experiment. VegWeb.com has some other great and simple protein boosters but I recommend you stay away from supplements since they can be really unhealthy. Good Luck!

Supplements.

I drank protein shakes.

For breakfast try egg white omelette's or Go Lean Cereal(loaded w protein)with Lite Soy Milk. Lunch add a little low fat cheese to salads. Try cottage cheese with fruit for a snack, or nuts with yogurt. And, there's always the trusted peanut butter sandwich.

peanuts and multi-viatimins

quality cereal, high fiber and protien, ...and i have "2 handfull"..of nuts each day,...almonds,..pecans..and pistachios

tofu, beans, peanuts, eggs, milk.
there's lots of things. ;]

A healthy varied vegetarian diet doesn't require extra effort into eating more protein because most food has protein in and it's almost impossible to have a protein deficiency.

Foods that are especially high in protein are tofu, nuts, seeds, wholegrains (bread, pasta, rice, cereal etc), soy milk, and beans.

If you are eating a varied, balanced diet and you are consuming enough calories, you are getting enough protein. Period. You do not need to take supplements, drink shakes or take special care to get enough protein. Somewhere along the line "meat" and "protein" became synonymous, but it's bunk - there's plenty of protein to be had in the plant world. Where do you think large herbivores (like, oh... cows) get the protein they need to grow so large?

Eat soybeans and soy products (tofu, tempeh, tvp, edamame, faux meats,) beans and other legumes (lentils, peas, peanuts, chickpeas,) nuts and seeds, whole grains, fruits and veggies, and even mushrooms have protein.

beans, nuts, lentals, tofu...

Almonds, black beans, brown rice, cashews, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), kidney beans, lentils, lima beans, peanut butter, pinto beans, seitan, soybeans, soymilk, sunflower seeds, textured vegetable protein (TVP), tofu, and faux meats.

I love Morningstar Meal Starters Chik'n Strips - about 23 grams of protein in 12 strips!

Too much protein is associated with health problems; see http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/vsk/p...

As my protein is more than sufficient, I don't need any more.

---A vegan.

You know, I don't think I've ever heard of protein deficiency in any industrialized nation. Just EAT, okay. Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, and nuts, and you will be FINE. I can't believe how many times this question has popped up, been answered the same way, and STILL people believe in the pernicious protein myth.

How do omnis get their fiber?
