Do Vegans/Vegeterians Drink Alcohol?!
Answers: Of the little vegeterian/vegan people I know some of them do drink and some of them do not. I wanted to know if this was striclty a personal choice (as i don't think animals are involved with alcohol drinks) or is there a lifestyle connection to refraning from alcohol?
It would largely be a lifestyle choice as most alcohols are veg-friendly. Some beers are fined with isinglass, from the swim bladder of a fish. Many wines are clarified with animal products. Most spirits are made without animal byproducts (though the cream ones would obviously be unsuitable for vegans.) The good thing is that there are several websites with lists of vegan-friendly beers, wine and spirits. Most major American brewers are vegan, as are all German beers.
Hell yeh!!! Unless your being vegie for health reasons. But there are no animals involved so yup!
I don't think animals are used in the production of animals. I'm vegetarian and I don't drink, but that's because I'm on medication that doesn't mix with alcohol; until this I used to drink.
It depends on how strict they are (vegans obviously being stricter) I, myself am a vegetarian and I still drink alcohol. So I would say it's a personal choice
I am a vegetarian and as far as i know not drinking alcohol is a completely personal choice nothing to do with being a vegetarian.
I don't think the two choices are connected, and it would be a personal choice for the individual. Unless it is a commitment to a healthy lifestyle that is leading the person to choose being a vegetarian and to refrain from alcohol. That may be a possible connection.
You would be amazed by some of the ways that animal products are used. Some things, such as fish scales (I think) are used in some beer and wine production. So I think only certain beverages are officially allowed.
EDIT: Well, I knew it had something to do with fish!
Ok----here's a website that looks very informative.

I'm not sure about vegetarians but vegans would abstain from an alcoholic drink that contains dairy... like a white Russian or Baileys Irish Cream or something.
I hope this helps.
cheers!
I am a vegan, and I do drink occasionally. There is a connection between the two, because many alcoholic beverages (including most beers and wine) do employ animal products in their production. the most common is the use of isinglass, which comes from the swim bladders of fish, to clarify alcohol after fermentation. Another is the use of bone char in processing. As long as we drink vegan-friendly beverages, there's nothing stopping vegans from enjoying alcohol.
It depends on personal preference. There is no animal products in pure alcohol...so they can. But its up to them if they want to drink it.
i drink alcohol and i'm vegetarian. i'm sure vegans don't--they're more strict about that, unless it's 100% free of animal products.
it`s not that they can`t..there are no meat products in alcohol drinks..most i think choose not tooo, because they care what goes into there bodies..
Raw vegans typically don't drink. If you stay on a totally pure uncooked diet for a long time and then drink, your body gets a bad reaction, way worse than a vegetarian or vegan drinking alcohol (which would be a "normal" reaction).
honey.... animals have nothing to do with alcohol... it is a personal choice
I'm vegetarian and I don't drink alcohol.
In my case, it's not particularly connected, although I did give up both meat and alcohol for spiritual reasons. I always loved animals and hated the idea of killing them, but I stopped drinking largely because I tended to drink too much and I didn't like the way it made me act.
I have heard some people say that animal products are used in the processing of certain alcoholic beverages, but I don't really know anything about that.
I certainly drink, but this is a personal choice.
You'd be surprised which alcoholic beverages contain animals products. Guinness for example.
I found this website a couple of weeks ago with lists of wines, beers and spirits that are suitable for vegans and vegetarians. It might be useful for you too. (See below.)
Physically and ethically, there is no relation.
But generally and eventually, a philosophy-vegetarian will quit smocking, lessen or stop alcohol and less likely to cause harm to other beings.
Important Note : Exception for those reprimanded by doctors from eating meat.
