What brand of vegan cosmetics do you recommend?!
Answers: All my makeup is getting old and I want to replace it. I prefer to spend $50-75, but I'd go up to $100 if necessary. I usually wear mascara, eye liner, eye shadow, blush, lightly tinted lip balm and powder/foundation (the all-in-one kind in a compact). My skin is somewhat oily and acne-prone if that's important. I prefer to hear from people who actually use vegan cosmetics, but any suitable answers would be great. Thanks in advance!
I get all of my cosmetics from www.everydayminerals.com. If you've never used mineral makeup before then it takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, you'll love it. They're also bringing out a compact pressed foundation within the next week so you may prefere that to the powder they have at the moment. I used to used the compacts but am used to the powders and prefere them now. Their products are all natural and use a minimum number of ingredients which your skin will appreciate. It's good enough for your skin that you can even wear it overnight (I don't though). It's also relatively cheap, especially if you go for a custom kit. They also do a free sample pack so go for that first if you don't want to pay for something you're not sure of. Their products aren't tested on animals and the only non vegan product I've found on there is the soap which has honey in.
I forgot to mention... make sure you get a synthetic brush as some of them are made of animal hair. They're thinking of changing them all to synthetic though so if you want, you could send them a quick email saying you would prefere they do. And for oily skin... go for the matte or intensive foundation and finishing dust... they really help in absorbing oil and reducing shine
There's a brand called Zuzu Luxe, which is entirely vegan. You can get it at www.veganessentials.com or www.veganstore.com. They both also carry a number of other brands of vegan cosmetics, such as Beauty Without Cruelty.
Urban Decay and Hard Candy are not entirely vegan, but do have some products suitable for vegans, and you can print a list to take with you.
Try items from The Body Shop
Also Aubrey Organics
High-end cosmetics contain whale bile, human fetus cells, mercury, and other ingredients that would raise eyebrows among the masses. Sales clerks receive advanced psychology training from cosmetic companies to hypnotize rich women in the store, so the womens' eyes swirl green and orange, and they are brainwashed into buying anything.
If there is a "herbal trademark product" in the market, it will be labeled in bold with prestige. But not many salesperson are diligent in this matter. Unless we provoke and popularize such activism from now, people will start producing and sell vegan cosmetics to supply the scarcity power.
