Should I become vegitarian?!
Answers: Last summer I was a vegitarian for about a whole month. It wasn't that hard for me to be one seeing as I only eat meat when my mom cooks it or when I eat out. However I don't really know where to start, I think I started off wrong last time, and thats why I decided to not be vegetarian anymore. I think it will be really hard for me to not east meat when I go out, because most of the dishes i order (which are mostly pasta) have chicken in them. Also last time, I got very bored with eating the same foods, because I don't know a lot of the main foods vegetarians eat, especially for main meals (breakfast, lunch dinner).
Yikes, sounds like you aren't getting very nice or helpful answers on here. Sorry about that.
Deciding if you want to be a vegetarian is completely up to you. I feel that there are many ethical, environmental, and health reasons for making this decision...but there is nothing more annoying then a self richeous vegetarian/vegan. Only stop eating meat if its something you want (to help make that kind of decisions visit PETA, Vegetarian websites, or even more neutral sources like the Idiots Guide to being a Vegetarian).
In terms of the practical side of being a vegetarian, may of us can help you out there. I agree that eating out can be really hard sometimes. It all boils down to picking the right type of restaurant and knowing how to change a dish. With the pasta, ask for no chicken! piece of cake! or, have them put the chicken on the side and take it home as leftovers for someone else. Large chain restaurants are generally the least vegetarian friendly (ie: applebees). So keep that in mind and try going to ethnic restaurants. A lot of countries have large vegetarian populations (often due to Buddhism or Hinduism) so try...Mediterranean, Chinese, and Indian food.
And you definitely do not have to eat the same foods over and over again...virtually anything that can be made with meat can be made without it....sandwiches, soup, quiche, lasagna, egg rolls, stir fry, pasta, curry, pizza, salad...the list is endless!
You only ate meat when you're mom cooked it or when you went out??
You were not a vegetarian
Google what a vegetarian is, what they eat and don't eat and then decide if you want to do it
You should also learn to cook
Edit : If you only eat meat when she cooks it or when you go out , then when don't you eat it ?
if u feel u should become a vegetarian again then u should.
Yes, do it. One less meat eater on the planet is a good thing. It also makes you feel good to your soul that one more innocent animal didnt have to die for you to eat its burned flesh.
If you ate meat when you're mom cooked it or when you went out then you were not a vegetarian
Research and then decide
If you want to become a Vegetarian again, then go ahead, and also there is no excuse because Vegetarians don't eat the same food all the time. Just because you only eat meat when you go out or if u your mom makes it doesn't mean you're a Vegetarian. You can't say your a Vegetarian and then when your get bord go back. Plus being a Vegetarian isn't boring at all.
When you're a Vegetarian you just don't eat meat. You're still able to eat Eggs, and Dairy Products.
Go out and get a Vegetarian cook book, so that way you can see different varieties of food and won't get bord.
I'm a Vegan and looking up different recopies on the computer, and looking at cook books help alot cause it gave me varieties to chose from, and I got to enjoy something new.
Hope I Helped!
just do it !!!
If you're having a hard time and don't know where to start you could always order a free vegetarian starter kit off of PETAs site.
Really, the place to start is to just stop eating animals. It's easy. Go from there, soon you might even want to go vegan.
It sounds like you weren’t really a vegetarian to begin with if you continued to eat meat while your Mom cooked and you ate out.
I think you need to ask yourself why you want to become a vegetarian. Do you want to do it for health reasons, animal rights, environmental concerns, religious purposes, or you just don’t like the taste of meat. Those are the typical reasons why people give up meat and become vegetarian to begin with. If you don’t have a purpose for going vegetarian you will probably not stick with it.
If you are seriously thinking about becoming a vegetarian… KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! You need to do your homework to make sure you get the proper nutrition “Becoming Vegetarian” and "Diet for a New America" are great books to get. www.goveg.com is a great site to visit for more information, plus they have a free vegetarian starter kit you can order or download.
You must be young and live at home if your Mom is cooking for you. If you decide to become a vegetarian be prepared to do some of your own cooking (if Mom doesn‘t want to become a short order cook and she approves of your decision). “Student’s Vegetarian Cookbook” by Carole Raymond, contains a lot of great recipes for beginner chefs and there are a lot of easy recipes on the web.
If you order something when eating out, simply ask the waiter to not put meat on whatever your ordering. Most places have vegetarian options available. However, I would steer clear of seafood places and steakhouses when you can.
This is what I ate today for my vegan diet.
Breakfast - Fruit, fake bacon, oatmeal with raisins, flaxseeds, and soymilk.
Lunch - small salad with veggies, homemade veggie burger with tomatoes and smashed avocado on a whole wheat bun.
Dinner - marinated tofu stir-fry with brown rice
Snacks - apple, half baked potato with tomato sauce and soy cheese
I was very lucky to have parents who supported my decision, as long as I did my homework on the subject and I did my own cooking. Some kids aren’t that fortunate. Most people are brought up to believe that you need tons of meat and tons of animal protein to be healthy. Some of these adults are raised to believe that eliminating meat from your diet is unhealthy, which can create problems within the family. If your parents aren’t very supportive you might have to wait until you leave home. Vegetarians get enough protein, as long as we eat a variety of foods and get protein from other sources. You can’t just live on rice and potatoes alone.
I love being vegetarian and if done correctly your health will thank you. Good Luck and Happy Holidays!!!
You can ask them for pasta without the chicken in it. If you are living with your mom it will be hard to be a strict vegetarian without her approval. Either win her over or wait patiently till you are on your own. If all you can control is a smaller portion of meat, then why not. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. I don't think it would be very healthy to be a vegetarian if you ate a lot of junk and starch. Look for recipes and menu items that have lots of veggies and less pasta/potato/wheat and if they taste bland it is just a matter of spicing them up with your favorite herbs.
Something else: consider looking around the frozen breakfast section of the grocery store. They often stock veggie fake meat there: bocca burgers, chik patties, etc. A little expensive but it can make transition to veggie easier.
i kno u want a steak
Becoming a vegetarian is a personal choice. It's always wise to look into something like this before you go for it. If you think that you would be happy following a vegetarian diet, then go for it!
Good luck! :D
I view vegetarians as people who ar desperate for attention. They just want to tell everybody that they are eating only specific things. Go out and eat whatever u want.
