Recently, a group misnamed the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) has been doing everything possible to mislead people about PETA with deceitful and downright false ads and media releases about our organization. You may have heard about the "PETA Kills Animals" campaign that the CCF is responsible for. For years the group has been attempting to draw attention away from PETA's important work to save animals with this campaign, misleading people about an incident that occurred in North Carolina when two individuals with the Community Animal Project (CAP) were detained for disposing of animals' bodies improperly. At the time, these two individuals were also charged with cruelty to animals.
This afternoon, after only 10 days at trial, all charges of cruelty to animals were dropped - as we knew they would be all along.

So why would the CCF wish to mislead people about PETA? It's simple - the CCF is a front group for the industries that exploit, maim, and kill animals. Their funding comes directly from Philip Morris (who perform painful experiments on animals to test their cigarettes), Outback Steakhouse, Tyson Foods (one of the largest meat companies in the world), and other big-business animal abusers. These companies are worried about the strides PETA has made exposing cruelty to animals, educating caring consumers, and compelling companies to take animal welfare seriously, so they contribute vast amounts of money to the CCF and its ads attacking PETA. the director of peta ingrid has made a movie called i am an animal. it was a really good movie, and it looks at both sides of the argument of peta being good or bad. i have seen it and i believe that peta truly is trying to make a difference. but if you have doubts about their actions you should ignore their cause and follow your instincts and beliefs. i hope this doesnt sound too much like a lecture. i wasnt trying to do that.

you want proof? here you go!

peta supports homegrown terrorism!
they donate to radical groups such as the Earth Liberation Front, who set fires to homes and cars!
peta doesnt want blind people to have seeing eye dogs!
peta kills 85% of the animals they "rescue"...thats way more than any shelter or humane society!
two north carolina peta employees killed 31 pets and dumped the bodies in a grocery store dumpster after promising the owners they would be adopted!

there's peta for you...don't believe me, check these links

yes they do. they've been to court so many times about this issue. last year they euthenized 90% of the animals they "rescued" even though they were adoptable. while animal shelters adopted out 75% of the animals they rescued.
i used to be a member of theirs and instead of getting newsletters of saved animals i would get "how much would you like to donate to peta"
they had an investigator in the iams company for 10 months and all they did was record documents and events that happened...instead of saving the animals they used it for references.
look at the websites others are leaving for you...they're all true.

Afraid so.

Yes it goes and it will keep on rounding up cats and dogs from the street labelling them as strays until you stop giving them money. The thing is there not very open about it as compared to shelters.

Yes, so does every SPCA, Human Society or animal control agency.

The center for consumer freedom took a quote from Ingrid Newkirk out of context awhile back and corupted it. She was talking about how so many animals were killed at the DC shelter and the quote was corrupted to make it sound like she was doing so now. There have also been all kinds of stories related to two people who claimed to be PETA emoployees but where not hired by them. The fact that they claimed to be completely tainted PETA's name.

Julies reply says it best.

oh jeez, i didnt even know there was any controversy about this. i think they are helping animals. Julie's answer sounds credible.
also why would they even take the time to talk about animal rights and all thats stuff if it was fake? i mean seriously, who goes around and says "dont kill animals" and then goes and kills them. that just doesnt make sense, it hypocritical. so i believe PETA is helping animals. also, that petakillsanimals site seems so stupid. i mean come on, if they are talking about how peta is bad, then obviously they are meat eaters or part of meat industries. i might actually believe that site, if they talked about how they help animals and stuff. but basically, the site is saying "PETA is lying, dont listen to them, instead, go get yourself a big old hot dog from oscar meyer weiners"
i think that site is backed by meat industries.

also, if you feel that PETA is doing bad things, then dont support them. you can still support vegetarianism without supporting PETA. its not like by becoming a vegetarian you have to join PETA.

oh and also, most animal shelters unfortunately have to put animals down that they have kept for too long, in order to make room for more abandoned pets that need a second chance. i know it sounds cruel, and it probably is. but they're doing their best.

sorry this probably wasnt a great help, but i tried

and good luck finding out if PETA is actually helping animals, im watching this question [=

To those of you who don't believe that PETA would do these things, you yourselves don't understand what PETA is really about. They are for total animal liberation. This means that they don't believe in keeping pets whatsoever. In PETA views, keeping an animal for a pet is making it an unwilling slave to humans, it would be better for them to be dead in their minds, and since there are so many pets in the world it would be impossible to just let them run free, so they are killed. I don't know about anybody else, but my golden retriever seems rather happy and content with her spoiled life, and if she wanted to be "free" she could walk into the wild at any time she wanted. PETA considers all animals bred as pets for humans as an abomination and should be destroyed to stop humans from being able to own them. Sick, sick, sick people who want to make everyone else think like them and villianize those that don't. There is nothing wrong with being a vegetarian or vegan, whether you do it for health reasons or because you are soft hearted, but leave the rest of us to our way of life. If animals are truly sentient beings then they can think for themselves and don't need people to fight their battles for them.
