Answers: OK VEGETAIRIANS ....
1) do you run cross country or track
2) do you follow a healthy diet (ie. no sweets only healthy foods)
3)i keep hearing a lot of vegetarians are runners .... why is ths or is it not true
1. I run cross country, track and lift weights.
2. I eat some vegan chocolate on Saturdays, about once every couple of months I'll eat a vegan cookie. Other that I eat healthy foods. Beans, nuts, seeds, grains, greens, broccoli, cauliflower, seeds, etc.
3. Why are lot of vegetarians runners? It's good for the heart. It's cardio. Whether a person is vegetarian or not the body and mind need cadiovascular exercise. It reduces stress, helps detox the body, and eliminate excess fat. Vegetarian foods contain good fats, but too much of any type of fat building up in a sedimentary body can cause obesity.
Hello. My answers.
1. No, I do not run cross country or track.
2. I try to follow a healthy diet, no meat for starters, but I do eat gac too sometimes.
3. A lot of veggies are runners, it's a protein thing, but there are many veggies in all kinds of sports.
Uhm, I'm not a runner. But I ride horses. It's a very active sport.
I'm pretty healthy, but come on. I eat sweets regularly. :)
I think alot of vegetarians run because they ARE health nuts. But others might just have different morals concerning animal treatment, or they just think meat is nasty. :b
1 No
2 Yes
3 A lot of humans are runners. Veggies are humans.
1) I do not run any more...I did 2 marathons in my teens but it ruined my overall health. I have malformed joints so running killed them. My hips are shot.
2) For the most part...I love to cook so I make healthy versions but I love southern food, so it's hard.
3)Most of my veg friends run as well, but I think it's because most vegitarians care not only about the environment but also their overall health. Running is fast, easy, and mostly free!
1) My knees don't like concrete or asphalt, which makes running outside very painful, so I improvise by jogging 3-5 (30-60 minutes at 5-6 mph) miles a day on the treadmill. I just open the blinds and stare out the window, lol.
2) There are a lot of diabetic people in my family, so I make it a point to watch my sweets intake, but don't avoid them entirely. I might whip up a batch of cookies once every month or two. Just as often I'll treat myself to a dark chocolate bar. I make things like granola and muffins for breakfast, but I try to sweeten those with agave nectar or reduced sugar.
3) I really don't know for sure about that. Runners need a lot of carbs to keep going, especially distance/cross country runners. It's very easy to make a vegetarian diet high in long-lasting carbs. Maybe that's part of it?
1. I ran track in high school. I also did 4 yrs in the army. Ran everyday. Past running portion of PT test w/ the male standards.
2. Yes for the most part. except for about once a month(ladies know what I mean) when I really need chocolate and chips.
3. Actually a lot of girls on my track team were vegetarian.
1) Ran track in school 3rd. fastest sprinter (at only 4"11').Now I am a old lady
2) I have my moments
3) I can't say if it's true.
But 1 big reason would be ~ Body Fat, a healthy Veggie/Vegan has lower body fat if they are exercising. Runners want to have long lean bodies with low body fat.
1) I want to do track for my school in spring. I couldn't do cross country this year because it's during football season at my school and I was a cheerleader.
2) I do follow a healthy diet, for example no meats of course, but I do eat sweets!
3) Like someone said, there are vegetarians in all kinds of sports. I like Soccer, and I play Basketball with my hoop at home... and like I said I wanna do track in the spring.
1) No, not cross country or track. I actually hate running, but I do some because I do short-distance triathlons.
2) I follow a mostly healthy diet, with some room for snacks and sweets.
3) I don't really know if that's true (whether runners include a higher than average number of vegetarians) but there are some very prominent runners that are veg*n, including Carl Lewis, Leroy Burrell, Ironman triathletes Brendan Brazier and Ruth Heidrich, and marathoner Sally Eastall. They must be on to something!
1-No
2-Yes
3-Never heard it before, i think that it is the same as being omni.
1) no, but i play rugby and there is a lot of running in that.
2) i sometimes eat junkfood
3)i don't know. if you here it from veg*ns it's probably true.
