Answers: I love meat, chicken, fish!

What should i do?

Well, if you LOVE meat, chicken, and fish, then why would the idea even pop up in your head?? No, don't turn into a vegetarian. The reason? They are scary, smelly people.

no. think of the poor helpless vegetables!

oh wait... i thought you were talking about abortion.

Yes!

It'll be the best desicion (Other than becoming vegan) you ever make =D

be a vegetarian and eat lots of soy meatless-meat. Meatless chicken wings actually taste better than the real kind!

go vegetarian, that means more meat for me

do you want to become a vegetarian? if you do, and you become one you're going to have to find other ways to get the nutrients that you're missing from meat. also, becoming a vegetarian is really hard if you like meat. my sister tried, but cracked after only four weeks. good luck and i hope this helps!

ive been veggie since i was four. (my own decision my family isn't veggie) I LOVE it. meat can do some pretty bad things to you if you research it. yes its a little harder when you go out to eat or somewhere else but you will LOVE it. if you really like meat then don't do it. You should only do it if you want to but im just saying i LOVE it.

yes, i am and i love it. It makes me feel good that i'm not eating poor helpless animals

yes eating animals is wrong!

Honestly, I could never be a vegetarian.
I don't eat a lot of meat, but Its good!
And think about it; on Thanksgivings, you'd have to eat those cruddy tofu turkeys. Yuck.
But, that's just me. You should do what you want.

Which is usually smarter, the hunter or the prey?

I think that our evolution had much to do with the diet that our ancestors chose... with that being said, I believe that meat help make us who we are: the ability to hunt it, raise it, and prepare it for consumption is part of what ultimately makes us human.

Only in a society where we have the luxury to be extremely particular about what we eat does vegetarianism proliferate.

If you were starving to death, I don't think you would really give a damn about that poor little chicken... and your views on slaughter would probably be much more realistic.

We can live without meat, but why would you want to... in a world where it's eat or be eaten! Only at the top of the food chain do you have the luxury of debating this...

So, in that sense, it may even be acceptable to consider it unnatural for humans to not eat meat.

EDIT: I am just saying based upon my argument... not saying it IS unnatural... didn't mean to offend! (Too much! LOL) Eidys - your comment on the way things are, intrigues... is mankind's behavior toward livestock unnatural, or, evolution at it's finest? Ants herd aphids... we are not the only species to keep livestock.

First of all it is very important that you educate yourself on vegetarianism.

Do some research on the different types of vegetarians and the foods they eat.

Read some medical books that discuss vegetarian diets.
You will want to learn the pros and cons of eating a plant based diet before you make your decision.

You will find that there are various opinions on the health benefits and risk of a vegetarian diet. Some people will say that it is unhealthy, and others will say it is the healthiest way to eat. Don't let these different opinions discourage you.

As you are doing your research you can try having vegetarian meals 2 or 3 days a week. There are plenty of cook books that offer a variety of vegetarian dishes.

Again, the most important thing for you to do now is some reading. You can probably find books in your local library, book store, or university library (particularly if the university has a school of medicine library).

If you decide to add soy products to your diet, read about the pros and cons of consuming soy. I've heard that it is very good for you, but I've also heard that it is harmful.

Don't be overwhelmed. Have fun learning.

why do you think that you should turn into Vegetarian ???

well its really a personal decision. i never really liked meat, but i really enjoyed the occasional hamburger and i liked chicken alot. BUT i hate the way we in america treat our animals (born in a box, raised in a box, force-fed in a box, killed in a box) so i decided to stop eating meat. i still eat fish however because its generally treated better.
maybe u could just stop eating red meat for awhile, and if that goes okay, stop eating chicken, and if that goes okay and u feel like it, stop eating fish.

I would like to comment on another post under this question.

"So, in that sense, it may even be acceptable to consider it unnatural for humans to not eat meat."

If you compare the way things have been from the dawn of human kind, most of the modern life's inventions should be considered unnatural. Including the treatment of the animals on the factory farms, the way they live their entire life and what food the animals are fed. The most natural way of getting meat is hunting and animal husbandry in small scale. However, nowadays very few have the opportunity to hunt or get hunted meat and very few grow couple of chickens and a pig on their yard. Since our numbers have grown so high, it wouldn't be even possible in most dense populated countries.

Planned vegan diet is as healthy as planned "standard diet", so if we can't get our hands on the meat that has grown in their natural habitat and led a life their species are supposed to, then it is much more natural to not eat meat.

GO FOR IT ITS GOOD AND HEALTY MAKE SURE YOU STICK IT OUT

why ask us? i personally think its healthier to be vegetarian but its really up to you

i dont think that u can just turn in to a vegetarian because u like meat chicken snd fish so it will be hard for you

GO VEGAN! It's so healthy! Trust me, once you break the habit, you'll never want to eat that stuff again! It was hard for me at first, but now it's sooo easy.

Well, of course people will tell you to be a vegetarian if you are looking in the vegetarian forums. ;) (Y)

I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm trying to be. If you really can't stand not eating any meat at all, you could be a pescatarian, which is only eating fish. There is also free/open-range meat. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's just letting the animals live, not giving them chemicals or hormones, and they only take the meat once they die on their own.

It's really healthy to be vegetarian. It's not as hard as you think, either.

what ever strikes u being the right think to do

Why do you want to be a vegetarian--ask yourself this.

Kicking the meat habit is a challenge for some, but it can be done. Luckily, there are tons of analogues out there that replicate the taste and almost texture that should hopefully fulfill your cravings.

Check out www.vegweb.com for recipes and resources and go to www.cok.net for a starter kit. Even if all you do is reduce your meat consumption, it's a step in the right direction.

Only you can make that decision, but think about where, and how you will get your protien. I wonder why you would want to make that change?
