Do you think this is a question?!

Question: I got a violation for asking: Are you a vegan because you don't believe humans are meant to eat meat, or because you don't believe in killing animals?
The reason they gave me was that it wasn't a question.
Wasn't it? It was to me! It was something I was interested in knowing. Why was it not a question?

It's definitely a question, along the lines of asking people their reasons for being vegan. I have a sense for who's asking a possibly legitimate question, and people who are asking a question simply to antagonize (i.e., the constant animal crackers questions, the constant question about the plants, the constant questions about if we were stranded on a desert island questions, etc.), and yours falls towards the former category.

You might have typed the question in an odd way, like had part of it in the title and part in the body, so it was fragmented...

Personally....
I think that someone might have reported you because they thought you were trying to poke fun at vegans (there are many people that make fake Yahoo identities and specifically post repetitive, obnoxious questions in the Veg forum just to antagonize and upset vegans). You probably didn't mean any harm, if you're reacting to it like this... but maybe in the original posting you came off as negative, taunting, or maybe someone read too deeply into what you wrote.

I thought it was a question I got a violation for asking for prayers when I was in the hospital, I think the caffeine in the coffee from all the coffee breaks is getting to the staff...

Is that the only thing you said or did you write something else in the details? because if you did and somebody found that to be offensive or a rant, the may have reported you.

There doesn't need to be a reason for Yahoo to delete your question (or answer). All it takes is one person to report you and you get zapped. It doesn't make much sense but that's how it works.

ive no idea, whoever reported it probably just took it the wrong way.
definetely a question!! im a pescatarian too!

YA has a system whereby there are 'trusted reporters' who can have any question or answer they don't like removed. Just one report from one of these people is enough. I'm not one myself - I've reported racist answers and outright nastiness that remains for all to see months later - and I'm not sure what the qualification is. But YA don't check the reported Q or A, they just remove them, so very often things that are not in the least offensive are removed.

I once reported a question in the cancer section where a teenager asked about people's favourite brands of cigarettes. It didn't get removed. But my answer, telling them how inappropriate it was, did get removed (after it had been voted best answer!) on the grounds that it didn't answer the question.

That's how ludicrous the reporting and violations system on here is; don't take it to heart, post your question again and hope that the same trusted nutjob doesn't see it this time.

That's definitely a question! In fact, I think I remember seeing it the other day and considered replying (I'm vegan because I don't like the idea of killing animals), but didn't.

I don't know why they would have deleted it...maybe one of the people we have lurking around here who enjoy putting down vegans/vegetarians decided to report it for their own cruel reasons. Oh well...

Don't worry too much about it! :-)

You can always appeal but to be honest, the yahoo staff that deal with this are a bit lazy and don't bother reading the question. Also its quite common for people to gang up on a people and report something if they don't agree with.

Its a question, no doubt.

Someone just got involved in the appeals forum with a yahoo staff who said "may i be the first to wish you a merry christmas ?" wasn't a question. The "may I" turns it into a question

If you can answer "yes or " no " to somethng, it must have been a question

I once got a violation report for "incest" with a similar question last year. I spent months trying to get that overturned but failed despite the fact that there isn't even an "incest" reason ni the reportnig list.. You'd be best just to move on.

One time I got a violation notice it was because someone asked if our forefathers are rolling over in their graves because of the ungodly-ness of our country(USA). I answered with a question "How do you know our country's ungodly?" When I got the violation notice I e-mailed back asking them what rule/guideline I had violated and they simply sent me a link to the Answers rule page. I was like "Yeah, I read that already, but I'm still confused."
I think they just appease people who complain no matter what. I really don't think your question violated anything. Just hit somebody's soft spot. Many people on answers will say if you don't get a violation notice every now and then you're not answering questions honestly.

it is a question,in fact i answered it.and if u can answer it,its a question.

I thought it was a good question.

Anyone can report anything.

I've been suspended twice because of the trolls reporting my valid answers :D

Take no notice of the veggies, they are bats in the belfry = if they were bloody hungry like half the world, they would eat anything - do they eat carrots who scream when killed. Living things have to be killed to eat them its so simple. I am surprised they have time to go on here what with knitting yogurts, and sore feet from leather sandals - where does their leather come from. They make me bloody sick, and you carry on my love. I will always answer your questions and who is to say these monsters have command of the English language! Carry straight on....................... I think I will have a blood great big raw steak for supper m,mmmm! Hope their children have more sense. I have had violations from these air eaters and don't give a f....! Neary as mad as the religious nutters. Try their site and have a good laugh - I don't think their religions give them much peace or SENSE!!!"!!
