What is the best brand of soy milk?!

Question: I used to drink soy milk many years ago (when there were less brands to choose from) and i have to admit, i really don't like the taste of it. I'm thinking of going back to soy milk (i only use it in cereal and for cooking), so can anyone recommend a good brand that tastes decent? thanks :)

Edensoy is pretty good, but pricey, I used to work at a vegan restaurant and we always used Silk which has really good flavor and works great for cooking. Have you tried rice milk? it tastes much better in my opinion. Vanilla rice dream is my favourite, unfortunately rice doesnt cook as well as soy but its much better for cereal or just drinking. Also, almond milks are really good.

Hello,
I like Silk Soy milk the best.
I drink vanilla lite every day. I am lactose intolerant.

to Wink:
I have started to drink soy milk only after my DOCTOR advised me to, because to fulfil the Calcium intake and increase a little of my Estrogen levels.

I also second "Silk" brand. It has the consistency of real milk and a "fuller" taste. Many of the others are like "tofu water."

I like Silk soy milk as well. Personally, I think the vanilla flavored one tastes the most like cow's milk, though I like them all. They make a great milk/egg free Egg Nog too!

I like Silk, and I would reccomend going out and trying the Silk Pumpkin and Spice fake-nog, it's like eggnog but zero cholesterol, it's great and so fantastic. It's a seasonal item so go to WholeFoods or a similiar store.

I think many soymilks are great, I personally prefer almond milk, which can be purchased from companies like Almond Breeze, but soymilk is good too.

I HATE the Soy Slender brand, it's thick, odd and gross to the palate. Avoid it.

I prefer Silk

Don't use soy, use nutmillk instead! 1/2 cup of your favorite raw nuts, 1 cup of water, blend! Yum!

*you can use a nutmilk bag to drain the milk into a bowl and keep out the bitty leftover nuts.

Taste wise, it is Silk soy milk and it has the texture of 2% skim milk. I do not like to drink it cause it has alot of added vitamins and minerals, and too much sugar.
For health reasons, I choose one that has only cane sugar, or better yet brown rice syrup, for sweetening, only soybeans (organic of course), some kind of good oil, and carrageenan for a binder/filler (which is under scrutiny for cancer now. Geesh!). (My pet peeve is calcium carbonate which is cheap calcium to add to food, but very hard to digest properly). Currently I use only Silk's creamer for cooking/baking, and Good Karma's Organic Rice Milk for cereal (try to have rice milk because I otherwise would be eating way too much soy and soy products).

silk is a good brand

If you're going to drink soymilk, I recommend buying the refrigerated kind. I used to drink the kind that you buy at room temperature on the shelf, then refrigerate at home, but that kind never tasted very good. Plus, there were always chunks in it. I like the refrigerated kind MUCH better. The only kind I don't like is 8th Continent. It tastes weird to me. But Silk, SunSoy, the store brand, etc. are all good. (P.S. Make sure you buy "original," not "vanilla" if you're going to cook with it. You don't want vanilla flavored macaroni and cheese, you know?)

Silk is my favorite. I buy the unsweetened kind in the green container since my mom is diabetic. Although I like the many favors they have. I also like Eden soy and rice dream.

Yes soy is good for you for many reasons. One, it stops hot flashes in people going through menopause. I know this as a fact.

I've tried many different kinds and I have to agree with the everyone else that answered before me and say Silk.
It has a better taste than the other ones and is sweetened just right.

Oh my, seems Silk is the favorite brand around here. So sorry... but Silk is my LEAST favorite soy milk. For all the hype that it gets, I would expect it to taste really good, but it really falls short. It just tastes... funny.

My fave would be the Trader Joe's brand that comes in the bigger package. It's organic and comes in 3 flavors: original, vanilla, and chocolate. The chocolate is really good, and the original is super good.

Have you tried Rice drinks before? I think Taste the Dream's rice drinks are the best on cereal in the morning.

Hope I helped. :)

Most folks seem to like White Wave's "Silk" brand. I like the Silk which is UNsweetened. It is also the best on for cooking as it doesn't get a funny after-taste when used in Cream of Wheat or milk-heavy recipes.

The Vanilla and Very Vanilla are much sweeter and many like them in cereals. Guess it depends on what you like.

Hope this helps.

i personally prefer asian soy milks. for many, soy milk is an acquired tasted, but i'm assuming that you've acquired it. american soy milks, for me, tend to be bland and flavorless. i loved asian soy milk when i was little. there's a sweetness to it, and it's delicious. i don't remember the brand name (wasn't in english), but it came in a little paper box like a juicy juice box. it was white with blue asian lettering on it. enjoy!

My absolute fav...and I wouldn't trade it for the world is called Natura. I actually prefer the unsweetened one but there is also sweetened (original), vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. I haven't tried vanilla but both strawberry & chocolate rocks! (if you don't mind the extra sugar) Try them, you won't be sorry!
Eris.

sorry vegans but soy milk is really bad for you, especially for women, contrary to what most people believe. you'll probably argue this and say that it's really healthy because that's what you've heard, but health professionals have conducted studies that have proven soy milk to be unhealthy for our bodies. so as for brands i would just say DONT DRINK ANY OF IT!
