Vaccinations, from a vegan viewpoint?!
Actually, wouldn't they all not be vegan since they're tested on animals?
Vegans, what are your thoughts on vaccinations and pills even.

Some vaccination use eggs in there production, there the weaken virus is growth inside them. The flu vaccine commonly uses fertilized chicken eggs. Others vaccinations use monkey brain cell medium for there growth, but I bet you knew that all ready. Yes these kinds of vaccines are not vegan.
I find the link for that one.

Look under the Animal organ tissue and blood part
Oh sorry, looks like I got rabbit and the monkey part mixed up. It was something I read in a forum about 1 month ago.

I don't think you all should do anything against your morals and principles. Sure, millions of kids die from measles mumps, rubella, whopping cough and tetanus...but who the hell cares??? You are Vegans!! Your sacred, morally superiour diet will compensate the kiddies for all of that there. Please forgo it, for you and your kids. I'll continue to fight in local court for non-vaccinated kids to stay far away from my future children.
Edit Hey Lo... TOO LATE!!! + HCG YESTERDAY LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.
vegans get diseases too..........
are all human vaccines tested on animals?
some are tested on humans.......
would it be better to avoid a nasty contagious disease or keep to the vegan ethos?
there are plenty of dead people who clutched their 'principles' till the very end......
Vegan does not mean martyr.
I would probably be dead if it were not for medication that had almost certainly been tested on animals, and I am a vegan.
Oh, Goldenchilde, please, please - don't ever reproduce.
Edit* Goldenchilde, I would never wish a wanted child unborn. Congratulations, I genuinely wish you well.
Fortunately bigotry is learned, not inborn.
Edit** have received your email Goldenchilde, but can't reply as you've blocked me.
!) I couldn't give a f.uck what you're having for dinner, why email me to tell me?
2) Congratulations (again), I wish you well with your pregnancy
This is where the vegan double standard kicks in. Be a vegan when it's convenient. If it effects health it's then OK to test on animals or even kill a few. This is when a vegan turns into a Flex vegan.
its does depend on your reasons for being Vegan
I am Vegetarian, going Vegan in steps
but not for any animal rights et al reason ( although those are good reasons)
for environmental reasons
since the few animals needed to test vaccinations, are.. well. very very few in number. I have nothing agsinst it.
If herd and herds of animals were required, id have to consider health>environment ? I would probably still stick with vaccinations, as if everyone was vegan, and didn't have vaccinations, the human race would be in pretty dire straits, global warming or not.
Veganism ≠ martyrdom.
The way that the rest of the world conducts research does not condemn us to die of treatable illness.
It is a bit ridiculous and also offensive to even suggest it.
----------------------------------
I am not for optional vaccines such as the flu vaccine, but when it comes to protecting children from deadly diseases, there is no question.
I'm vegan and that's a misconception of veganism.
A vegan does not consume anymal by products but that's not all.
Veganism is about respect for ALL living species. A vegan tries not to hurt others and live in a sustainable way.
It is all about coexistence.
It is not about only eating plants, a vegan would not accept either to eat plants if that would involve an abuse of them. That's why most vegans only eat organic.
Vaccines, and medicines in general are a need (such as food).... we agree with that and we only ask for getting them in a respectful and sustainable manner.
If you are against smoking and go downtown where there's smog everywhere... would you stop breathing??
Or if you want to go vegan but your body gets sick without animal protein... would you continue and die?
BTW, it is not only that some vaccines are tested on animals, technicaly speaking vaccines are made from virus cultives, so they are animal products. But they still can be produces in a sustainable manner.
The vaccination thing is difficult. I debated on flue vaccine this year, but as it is incubated in eggs, I chose not to get vaccinated. I am, instead, compulsive about washing hands and staying away from people who are sick.
When it comes to vaccinating children, my children were born before I came vegan, and were vaccinated. I have a 7-year-old son who is autistic. I watched the symptoms come on and get worse as he got each vaccine but didn't think about it. I know that the studies "say" that vaccines and thimerosol have no connection with autism, but the many parents who give me support think differently.
I won't be getting vaccinations as an adult, and my doctor supports me in refusing the "optional" vaccines for my son.
1 human life is equivalent to 1 animal life
most vaccinations kill or cause suffering to far more animals then the people they save. and we have no right exploiting them anyways. But yes in short: vaccinations are cruel
As far as I know, and as a microbiologist, vaccins for humans are made using horses, sheep, chicken embryos, monkey brains, dolphin brains and livers and human cell lines.
You may not have ethical problems with the human cell lines.
Now, for your information, we also make hormones, steroids, vitamins, antibiotics, etc. using bacteria and fungi. And beer, and other alcoholic drinks using yeasts. Poor bacteria, fungi and yeasts!!
Maybe you use yeast to make bread. Although they're tinier than cows or pigs, they really are "living things" even if their deaths go unnoticed by you?
What is your position on human cells, bacteria, fungi and yeasts??
Maybe you're ignorant and too dim to see the general scope of living things around you, big or small?
