How long have you been a raw vegan?!
Answers: How long did it take you to become %100 raw vegan no cheating? How long before the cravings stop? Didja juce fast at all? Dehydrate stuff or no? Do you buy organic always or what % of the time? After the holidays I want to give this my full and complete attention-- I am preparing myself mentally and gathering info and tips. Thanksssssss
I'm not 100% raw anymore, but I did go cold turkey, 100% for about a month a while back with no real cravings or issues. It's such a big change that you will likely be so absorbed in learning new ways to fix food to be worried about craving old habits. Plus, you'll feel too good to be worried about craving crap.
I did use my dehydrator a lot. I still do. I'm probably down to about 50% - 75% raw right now. Some days are better than ever. I did not juice fast. I don't know if I could handle that. I like feeling like my belly is full. I do try to buy organic most of the time and almost all of my produce is organic. Trader Joe's is a really good source for organic produce (especially avocadoes, which you'll be eating a lot of, I'm sure). I hope you have a TJ's near you -it'll help. Of course, farmers markets are the best place to get produce and depending on what your market's guidelines are, the farmers usually do grow organic even if they are not certified. Get to know them and ask questions.
I am going to do a week or two 100% raw before Christmas starting next Wednesday. I'm kicking it off with a splurge - I bught a box of goodies from Rawvolution. Com. It's pretty pricey ($100 plus delivery - ouch!), but I've heard good things and have been dying to try it out. Check it: http://rawvolution.com
(roll over the menu items to see a picture)
Here's the menu for next week:
Scarborough Fair Soup
Seed Cheese Wrap
French Onion Soup
Tostada with Salsa Fresca
Marinated Greens Greek Pizza
Mediterranean Tabouli
Vegetable Lasagna
Cauliflower Couscous
Strawberry Cream Parfait
Mashed "Potatoes"
Chocolate Coconut Haystacks
You do NOT have to do all the elaborate snacks and meals. I did sometimes just because it was fun. But just grabbing some raw veggies and snacking away is fine, too. Dehydrating is not necessary either. It just helps to do some of the recipes.
I felt so good raw that I'm excited to go back. Maybe I'll stick with it this time (doubtful - I've already got a stocking full of vegan candy from FoodFightGrocery.Com hanging on the mantle - I'm too in love with junk food aaargh!).

You are doing a great thing. Just listen to your body and have fun with it. You're going to feel wonderful! Feel free to email me if you want. I may not be 100% right now, but I am pretty thorough and do a lot of learning when I delve into something so I may be able to help if you need some guidance.
P.S. The only supplement I take EVER, either eating raw or not, is a kelp pill to offset an iodine deficiency.
im a vegetarian =)
lol ive been a vegan for 3 days now :)
i dont have a craving for chocolate now, because i think about all of the cruel stuff they do to cows (and other animals) just to obtain food.
if you want to be vegan you should start off vegetarian.
if you are already a vegetarian, you can eliminate one food group at a time, until youre vegan, or you can do it like me and just become vegan out of nowhere. ;)
