Answers: o yea nad is it nutriotional value at all?

yes. and don't worry there are plenty of vegan food filled with nutrition and vitamins.

you have to read ingredients on everything and make sure it's vegan. I won't lie, it's going to be annoying at the beginning but you'll get used to it in no time.

also buy this book it actually lists all animal ingredients:
http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Ingredients...

and here are some websites that that can help you as well:

http://www.vegansociety.com/html/food/cr...
http://www.veganwolf.com/animal_ingredie...
http://veganpeace.com/ingredients/ingred...
http://www.rawfoods.com/recipes/
http://www.fatfreevegan.com/

and on another note, you are amazing for supporting her decision.

ALSO, PETA's accidently vegan list is NOT entirely vegan so please don't trust them.

I'm a vegan myself and I've noticed many things they list have animal ingreidnts in them.

Yes, they can, but if you decide to become vegan I would check it out with your doctor first.

hope it helps!

my firend is a vegan and she is 11 so yeah!i think it would be fine!

it might not be so good for a thirteen year old to be a vean...your still developing and growing and you need all the nutrients that you can. and also, you dont want to be a vean just to say you are one, if you really are determined to do so just eat organic everything except no dairy and eggs and stuff like that. alsso, you will be practiacally living off of vitamins

Well for a 13 year old girl, you couldn't probably get the protein you need. So I'd say no. Just don't eat ANYTHING animal related.

And if your trying to be a vegan, you should at least know what vegans eat.

Yes you can be a vegan but first you must must researh your topic otherwise you will end up living on pizza and soda and get sick and then have all the die hard meat eaters saying I told you so.

You should log on to some web sites Vagan Wolf is good and read. Then go to www.vegansociety.com which haesme great pageon teen age vegan info. www.vegfamily.com this site has great articles that your mum and dad might like to read. THis is a list of the things you should ask your parents in their support to help you stock up on to make healthy meals. the biggest issue with poor health is taht the young person is not supported in being vegan so they end up eating unhealthy food and get sick. Remember you need a balanced menue. read about lentils, beans, tofu etc and how to make healthy meals. Good luck.

It sounds like it is far too much trouble, to me. You have to be very careful and closely monitor yourself for symptoms of vitamin deficiency. I think that if you were vegan for the even numbered months, and then ate fish and eggs and so on for the rest of the time, you might be ok. Should you ever get pregnant--eat steak. Do it for the sake of your foetus.

I wouldn't push a 13 year old into veganism. Let them become adults first. Children should not be forced to suffer the consquences of the mistakes of others.

yes, they have a lot of food that is not the real thing but supposly tastes like it. its mostly made of soy.

of course you can be Vgan
check out this link, it gives almost every Vgan food out there :)

I think its better if your 13 to just become a vegetarian, so you can still get protein, but if you want to be a vegan then go for it. I agree with one of those people ^^^^ you will be practically living of vitamins. I am 14 and only vegetarian and take 4 vitamins a day.

Of course, why not. That's the way humans are designed.
My kids are vegan since birth. They are larger, more athletic, and hardly ever sick etc. compared to the other kids their age.

Vegan foods? Anything with no animal ingredients is vegan. What's to difficult about that?

I have met many others from other countries too that have been vegan their whole life. Basically you want a well rounded diet and a variety of foods, but not all at one meal for good digestion. Same goes for meat eaters, right? There are kids and adults out there that live on junk food, so why worry about someone who's going to be eating healthy food?

Nutrition value of foods info you can find here:
http://www.bestbread.ca/QUICK_-_REFERENC...

There's an overwhelming amount of info on the net, but all you need are some good recipes. I say start with American Vegetarian Cookbook by Marilyn Diamond. I have lots of cookbooks, but this one is always at the top of the pile because it basically has all you need to know in one book. You can get it cheap at www.abebooks.com

Considering the fact that, at 13, your body is still developing, limiting your nutritional options is a bad idea. It's bad enough that most peoples diets consist of fast food and junk food washed down with sugary, high fructose syrup laden beverages.

My biggest suggestion would be to ask yourself why it is that you are considering going vegan. There is still quite a big debate over the health pros and cons of a strictly vegan diet. Plus, take into consideration the fact that we are designed to be omnivores (meat and vegetable) what with our incisors and canine teeth.

I would say that if you are looking at becoming vegan for health reasons, contemplate cutting back on your meat intake first. Even though we ARE designed to be omnivores, we aren't necessarily designed to eat the quantity of meat that we typically do. Our ancestors would have subsisted mostly on vegetables, nuts and fruits and supplemented it with meat whenever they were able to catch something.

Do yourself a favor, though... Do a LOT of research, first. Check out both sides of the story and then decide for yourself if it's the right choice for you. Don't let peer pressure influence your decision.

Good luck, whatever you choose. :)
