Vegetarian male and estrogen in soy?!

Question: I am a vegetarian. Will eating to much soy raise my estrogen level. And make me more femine?

Answers: I am a vegetarian. Will eating to much soy raise my estrogen level. And make me more femine?

YES. And it will enhance your breasts ... no lie. Also, latest research on soy indicates it's really hard on your system.

Not at all. My honey is a veggie like you and he is a big man. Not femine at all. He is about 6'2" 215 lbs and all man. Congrats on the great life choice. wish more people would become veggies so all the poor animals could quit suffering.

Sorry guess I should have added he eats alot of soy products, alot of Boca and Morningstar products

most likely, soy has a lot of stuff in it. if consumed in it's native form, it is poisonous. i prefer one or two servings of beef a day, either a steak or a burger. plenty of protein and iron. i also look for fat content, i try for the most fat per serving, eating fat makes you feel full. look at all the fat people eating non-fat stuff, they eat a lot of it and never lose weight. they are never satisfied.

No way. How could you possibly be more feminine?

Sorry, I was just kidding.

I'm a 50 year vegetarian, I have consumed large amounts of soy in the last 30 years. I drink a soy latte almost almost day.

I was in a Target store a few days ago. The cashier was unbelievably slow, but I wished the check out would never end because she was hot. I considered going back into the store to buy more crap so I could stand in line again.

Yes, I agree that I am a pathetic old guy, but I'm trying to say I don't think you have anything to worry about.

no food does that
only medicine

The effects of soy on humans, specifically males, is varied and in some cases inconclusive.

I've included several links to the potential benefits, hazards and general findings below.

Personally, I consume a significant portion of soy in my diet (vegetarian) and have not encountered any negative effects.

I believe that the estrogen levels are only enhanced when they are significantly dominant in a particular individual. Whether they be male, or female.

The link immediately below addresses effects of soy on men 1/2 way through the page.

Phyto-estrogens are in everything that contains protein, even meat, and your body is meant to be able to take some level of them. You really need a lot of soy to see any effect at all. I dont really know what "a lot" is exactly but i am pretty sure that if you have a healthy diet with good variety and aren't taking soy or flaxseed oil protein supplements it is a non-issue.

Yes. From what I've read, soy is heavy in phytoestrogens which behave like estrogen in the human body. Heavy soy consumption has been linked to birth defects in male infants (the penis is not formed properly), early puberty for girls and loss of libido. I've read that Japanese women will give their husbands soy to decrease libido and Buddhist monks eat it for the same reason.

Soy is poison and should not be eaten by anyone. Unfortunately it is pretty ubiquitous in may foods.

Get your protein from eggs. I'd suggest eating meat and fish as well, but that's up to you.

It's recommended that unfermented soy be eaten in smaller quantities. Some research asserts that giving soy formula to baby boys surpasses the safety point as far as the intake of the hormone estrogen. Is it true? I don't know. Neither does anyone here.

It's difficult to find trustworthy research in the food industry. It's all about $$$ and truth takes a back seat. On that same note, it's difficult to find trustworthy answers to questions like yours here in V & V. Too many vegers rely solely on veger awareness/propaganda sites as their main, sometimes only, sources. Those sites goals are to recruit to their cause and to help sell products for the part of the food industry that funds them. It happens that way with ALL parts of the food industry. Those same vegers will categorically deny the legitimacy of ANY research that is opposite their beliefs. That's called a double-standard. That's also one of the few true facts on the matter.

In the end, every single person that eats food has picked through all of the info., that may or may not be credible, and chosen which parts sound the best for them. For each of those people, that has then been anointed "the truth".
