Can anyone give me some vegetarian baby food recipes?!
Answers: I have a 9 month old who I am planning on raising vegetarian and really need assistance with recipes.
Its simple Just puree any organic veggie in a food processor, potato ricer, or blender. Add a little organic millet, quinoa, rice, or oatmeal for added texture. You can thin it out with rice, almond, or oat milk, or fresh juice. I made all of my daughters baby foods when she was an infant (she is now 13, and a content vegetarian) Just lightly steam the veggie, then puree it. Nothing to it. You can make some simple, easy to digest "cookies" that are soft and crumbly enough for your baby to handle, by dehydrating some of the pureed fruits and veggies in a food dehydrator or slow oven-just add enough quinoa flour to form into little patties, then dehydrate. Use organic fruits and veggies to avoid your childs exposure to pesticide residues. Oh, and by the way, please ignore the answers you are likely to get about how unhealthy it is to raise a child as a veggie-those that have not done their homework are clueless on the topic, and shouldn't answer what they don't know about.
consult your baby's pediatrician.
I see that Beebs is an authority since she has a child. ( sigh) I would definitely consult a pediatrician first for added information and guides to validated books to help you. Good luck.
You may want to get a book called New Vegetarian Baby
by Sharon K. Yntema, Christine Beard, and a book called Disease-Proof Your Child: Feeding Kids Right by Joel Fuhrman. These books can give you some ideas about what to feed your child.
You can speak to your child's pediatrician, but remember that they are not nutritionists and may not be able to help you very much. You may want to check out http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/ , there is a lot of info there and people that can give you advice.
