The reason people eat fish & fish oil is for the Omega-3 fatty acids. But fish do not produce Omega-3 themselves... they get it from their algae diet. Vegetarian foods that are rich in Omega-3 include Silk Plus Omega-3 DHA (soymilk), walnuts, ground flax seeds, flax oil, hempseed oil, canola oil, and supplements like this one: http://www.water4.net/

Many people actually avoid seafood because of the high levels of mercury. (Mercury poisoning can cause brain damage, memory loss, and other health problems.) So I would advise sticking with a veg source of Omega-3. Good luck!

eggs are brain food and fist are brain food. You should talk to your doctor though before doing a diet switch considering that you have epilepsy.

Epilepsy is not related to what you're eating. It is a brain disorder, and 'bad' foods can only aggravate the condition. You can't fix epilepsy by eating different food.

Fish is called 'brain food' because it provides omega 3's and 6's, not because it cures neurological disorders.

You need to go and talk to your doctor about what epilepsy actually is and what she or he feels is the best treatment. Epilepsy can usually be controlled by a doctor who prescribes medication carefully. Two of my close family members have epilepsy, and their seizures are totally under control.

To be truthful no ones knows. There is suggestion that fats do have an effect on the brain, but with epilepsy it could be down to number of things, like chemical imbalances.

But fish oil is good for the brain and the body as well as the oil found in nuts and eggs (omega 6, 3) but just don't over do it.

Pescetarianism is one of the healthiest diets in the world.

You should talk to your doctor about things like this... I don't think a bunch of random strangers can offer proper medical advice... nobody here knows your medical history or what medication you take for epilepsy, and whether dietary restrictions may or may not aggravate your particular condition.

Certain fish have omega 3 acids in them; you can find them in non-meat sources as well. I'm not sure if consuming omega 3 acids is sufficient to cure epilepsy, however. Every epileptic I've ever known needed to take epileptic drugs.

i think becoming a pescitarian is a very healthy choice:) yes, i've heard that fish are brain food, along with berries, maybe eggs.

I doubt eating fish will help your epilepsy. Some people still claim eating shark products prevents cancer -- even though the scientific evidence is weighted heavily against it.

Personally, I can't bear the thought of eating any fish -- I really feel bad for them =*(

Strangely, eating mammals has never bothered me =)
