Why do people think its so hard to not eat meat?!
Answers: I've recently become a vegetarian[within the past 3 months] and everyone keeps telling me i'm crazy and don't believe that i've been able to do so. I was talking about becoming a vegetarians months before i actually did, beacause i had to make sure my mom would still buy food that i would be able to eat. And then one day, i decided no more meat. and that was that. [ and i never liked fish anyway so that was easy]
1) THANK YOU for not eating fish and calling yourself a vegetarian. Last time I checked, fish was meat.
2) I don't get it, either. I've been a vegetarian for about 10 months and a vegan for a while, too - you just have to set your mind to it. I, personally, never "forgot" I was vegetarian. It was the best choice I ever made.
cuse they eat meat all the time ( i do) so they yhink that they can't go without meat
yea not eatting meat is easy cause vegetarian food is so nice :)
im not a vegetarian myself, but id be able to live without meat cos meat isnt that nice. VEG is best =]
x
it aint dat hard
i've been a vegetarian lyk 4ever
n i aint ever thought bout eatin meat again
i dont know but it is really annoying!
some people act like meat is the only food.
also, good job for not eating fish and calling yourself a vegetarian. because that is really annoying to those who actually are.
People juhss love meat and cant take living without it ..
Theyre scared to think of new possibilities. They just say EW and dont even think about it. For example if they thought about it, theyd find that its healthier. Or that its really not that hard. or that it makes you feel better. My 8 year old sister claims she hates anything vegetarian. But what about mac &cheese? or PB&J? Or ice cream sundaes? arent all those technically vegetarian? Going Veggie doesnt mean all tofu and Boca burgers. A lot of normal foods dont have meat in them. And the ones that do can be easily adjusted, which will make them healthier anyway. But alas, my argument is for naught. According to my "good friend", vegetarians are "gay" and "sinners". But he's an athlete. I'm bound to disagree with him anyday. :)
Because they've never done it before.
I've never played a bass guitar... so I think it is hard to do. But if I were to actually dedicate myself to playing bass... it would be easy.
The same is true with vegetarianism. It seems like a daunting task, but if actually try it out, it's not that hard.
Because change can be scary for some people. And our culture is meat crazy (bacon, ham, sausage for breakfast, turkey, ham, etc for lunch, steak, pork etc for dinner). A little meat every now and then does have protein, but most Americans eat WAY too much!! and you can get protein from other sources
okay well when i was little i was one and it was harder on me then it is harder on you because almost everything my mom made was meat in it and i would go to sleep very hungry. so umm just stick to what you want to be.
I eat meat a couple of times a week only because it's an excellent source of protein. There are many other sources, too, but I like quality cuts of beef. Plus, this is Texas where beef is king. If I had to, I could go without it. Don't listen to people who say you are crazy... you lifestyle choice is none of their business and you are making a mature decision.
Omg yes! I went out to eat with my mother the other day and she was like "What are you going to get? you dont eat meat!"
Thats why so many people are unhealthy, because all they eat is meat!
I agree. I'm a vegetarian and never ate much meat anyway, so it's not hard at all to not eat it. Plus if you know you're helping to conserve the environment and not eating animals that had been cruelly slaughtered, it should be easy to stay away from meat!
ppl r afraid
because they aren't aware of how easy and beneficial it can be, or are in denial.
I am vegan, and it is one of the best decisions/choices I have ever made :)
the only time it was ever really hard was when I first started being vegetarian. My stepmom supported my choice but everyone else thought I was crazy. But after the first few months, I didn't really ever crave meat. Altho sometimes its hard because people dont have much food for vegetarians so that can be a pain but its worth it in the long run.
Because for those who have no qualms about it, whether it's health, ethics or anything else, it IS hard for them to not eat meat. They see no reason to stop, so they won't.
People are hooked on meat--it's a drug to them. They cannot see going without their fix. They get a little freaked out when they witness vegetarianism in action because they realize that it's quite possible to do quite well without the stuff. This is why some people attack it; it's a self-defense mechanism.
Let people think you're crazy. Just eat your food, be yourself, and don't let it get to you. Oh and cook for them so they can see how fabulous veg*an food is.
actually meat gives you minerals and proteins that your body needs in order to function. If you want to cut off meat from your diet completely then I strongly advise you to look for good replacements unless you want to be anaemic.
Plus people eat more more because it tastes good and not because they think it's hard not too.
I've been really considering becoming a vegetarian and giving up beef wouldnt be a problem as I dont eat beef very often any way, but I love turkey , chicken , and fish, thouse would be hard to give up. I need to do it because that's whats causing me to yo yo in my weight. Im actually fasting right now and have given up everything for 15 days , but for good is another story, I want a turkey burger and a shrimp sooooo bad right now.
I love dining on animal flesh.
In my opinion, the short answer is that meat is a excellent, nutrient dense, food. It is satisfying (it doesn't digest quickly, so you aren't as hungry as often), rich in protein, B12 and cholesterol, which is necessary for brain health. If it is grass fed, it is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids.
Lots of people, like me, couldn't give it up as we like the taste and nutritional value too much.
Meat is healthy. It is what humans evolved eating for over 2.5 million years (plus some fruits & veggies). A plant based diet is a fairly recent invention (10000 years ago with the establishment of agriculture). What is unhealthy is a lot of the other foods all people (including vegetarians and vegans) eat like refined carbohydrates like white flour and sugar. Trans fats and high fructose corn syrup aren't that good either.
