Lollypops (suckers) vegetarian?!
Answers: Hey vegetarians and vegans! Is it safe for me to eat suckers? (do they have gelatin in them?)
blow pops, jolly rancher lollipops, ring pops and many others are vegan..check out this list! :o) http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/Ve... bon'appetite!<3 xoxooxxxox
It depends on the brand.
Hard candy doesn't generally have gelatin.
What's most likely not vegetarian in a plain, hard sucker is the food dye, especially red dyes. Look out for carmine or cochineal, the beetle-based red dye.
Someone just gave me a recipe to make your own the other day and it turned out really delicious:

I used cotton candy and strawberry flavors. You can get the molds at craft stores or wal mart could possible have them. I just used Popsicle sticks for the sticks as I made large lollipops. If you don't have molds you can improvise with waxed paper and cookie cutters.
Pure Fun makes all sorts of vegan candies, including candy floss (what we Yanks call cotton candy). They also make vegan hard candies, including lollipops. Sadly, you can't order from their website, but www.veganessentials.com definitely has some of the Pure Fun line.
