Did you have any negative, physical side effects from giving up dairy or going vegan?!
To TheGrimRipper: I'm sorry burritos, pasta, and pizza taste like "grass" to you. Maybe you should learn how to cook better. My siblings and I have been vegan since conception and have never even had a cold, so the "supplement" comment is pretty ridiculous. It's ironic that you bring up chimps as being omniviorous, seeing as how they consume a 95% plant-based diet, and the remaining 5% is bugs and termites, not chickens, cows and pigs. one need only examine the diets of our closest relatives, apes and chimps, to see that humans are natural herbivores. or spend one day working in the health care industry of a sick nation that gorges on animal products and is dying because of it. Humans have been doing many things for "thousands" of years, but that doesn't mean these things are morally justifiable, or healthy.
Answers: To answer, many of my friends have become light-headed or nauseous upon going vegan. (You'll find these same symptoms in any person undergoing a detox period, whether it's from substance abuse or consuming that which is unnatural to us.) But after that, their skin cleared up, they lost weight, and enjoyed more energy, so I can't recommend the cruelty-free lifestyle enough.

as long as you do it right, there are none.
if you don't watch your diet, you could get a bit ill.
for instance
I got lazy and ended up calcium deficient.
but that was easily fixed, and now I make sure to get enough( its not hard)
edit: you do not need any supplements as a vegetarian, you may need to watch out for vitamin B12 as a Vegan, its added to mast Vegan foods anyway - but just check.
If you plan on going vegan make sure that you get enough protein and iron in your diet, which you can easily get through beans. Giving up dairy on the other hand is quite common and there are many substitues for that such as soy milk and rice milk.
No.
that doesn't have because you get for other food what you need from the meat and animals products.
Lets say for example you're not going to eat meat
then you are going to substitute meat with this
whole grains, lentils, beans, tofu, low-fat dairy products, nuts, seeds, tempeh, eggs, and peas.
If you give up dairy
you could get calcium from
spinach, kale, mustard, collard and turnip greens, and bok choy... also sunflower seeds.
if you follow this you're more likely to survive being a vegan.
hope this help you.
I learned in my cooking class
pss i'm not a vegan hehehe.
No absolutely just the opposite. Many long term nagging ailments have disappeared.
Like Sinusitis(Allergies), Constant tummy problems, High Cholesterol, Low Energy, Painful Joints, Headaches, just mention a few.
Also when I did RAW this summer even more health problems improved!
Slainté (to your health)
No, of course
I gave up dairy and I didn't feel any negative side effects from that decision.
Regardless of what these other folks say, you CAN find your calcium, vitamin D and other nutrients from plant sources. Dairy makes humans fat. Period. It's not good for us. Besides, what other species on the planet 1) dinks milk beyond infant stage and 2) drink the milk of another species?
No brainer on this one. There are many other tasty alternatives - soy milk, rice milk or almond milk are enriched and will do your body just as good - if not better.
Cheers!
When I went vegan I had no bad side effects. I had more energy than I knew what to do with, my weight came down, and my skin, hair, and nails were in tip top shape. I had some physical health problems that simply disappeared. When I do eat cheese or eggs now (I do at restaurants and when out a friends house since I don't expect them to cook anything special for me) I feel a little bloated and lethargic.
The only negative side effects have been social ones...I eat cheese and try always to have vegetarian rennet cheese but I eat it rarely..maybe once every 2 weeks?I dont eat eggs but if they were in a muffin or pastry, I'd eat it .....again...this happens even more infrequently..
The positives are huge with cheese..I always know the next morning that I had cheese the night/day before...my sinuses get clogged up and I get phlegm --- eew!
I am careful of my diet though and in fact love my food and eat so well..I'm very healthy and young looking and happy with my diet.
None, just the opposite! My skin cleared up, my period cramps went to almost non-existent, and I didn't HAVE to take acidophilus to break down the milk proteins (I do however, still stake acidophilus for sheer pleasure of adding good flora, not because otherwise I'd be in pain if I didn't!) I also noticed I don't get cold sores nearly as often, which means not having to take L-Lysine daily either. So all my pill/ supplement taking when being an omnivore and as a vegetarian that ingested dairy, is only down to taking pre-natals (and this is only because I am breastfeeding, not because vegetarians "need" to take supplements).
of course not...
what you should be asking is "are there any negative side effects from EATING dairy or being an omnivore?"
i mean just think about all of the diseases that come from meat, and if you eat too much dairy, you may be at risk of high cholesterol.
while there a BARELY any diseases that come from being vegan.
nope
Nope.
Not me.
Have 'heard' of some having purging symptoms such as with giving up smoking, but have never personally met anyone who said this.
Yes. I began to starve to death. And I was pissed because all my friends were eating food and I was munching on grass like a horse.
Seriously though you will need to look into taking supplements. Despite what PETA says humans were never meant to live without meat. We are naturally omnivorous, which means we eat a mixture of plant and animal matter; the same as bears, raccoons, chimps, etc. It is a fairly unhealthy lifestyle for a human to subject itself to, so make sure you research it and take the correct vitamins. B12 and so on. A person in a health food store would be more than happy to help you.
If God wanted people to be vegetarians, He wouldn't have made animals out of meat!!
of course
you don't get protein and nourishment.
if you do decide to go vegan, that means anything that has eggs or milk in it. i suggest if doing this, make sure to drink soy milk as a substitute, find a way to get protein and nourishments.
it also means being careful of all products you use.
like, shampoo, conditioner, gels, nail polish, the cloths you wear, brands, even some products you eat that also supply foods that are tested on animals or have animal product.
there are many side effects, after a long time of not eating darie or anything animal related, if you try to eat it after a period of say, a year, there is a chance your body will reject it.
Coroners overhwhelmingly reporrt prolapsed intenstinal tracts in strict vegans and strict vegetarians. Many life threatening later life physical problems have their origin in veganism. Most of this is because the body chemistry varies so much from individual to individual that few people possess enough knowledge and time to accurately monitor minute by minute the effects of a vegan diet on their bodies. Veganism can be a way to unintentionally suicide.
