Vegans, I need your help!?!
Oh yeah, and is peanut butter vegan? (kraft)
Answers: So, heres the thing: I REALLY want to become vegan, because I am really disgusted that I am drinking cow breast milk, and eating the by-product of a chicken's MENSTRUAL cycle.. I don't eat eggs and milk just from the carton, but it's in a lot of food I eat. Please help me to become vegan!

You could start by going to the library, it's best to actually read about all the vitamins, minerals, proteins and amino acids, complex carbohydrates and simple carbohydrates, etc. You should take out a couple of books on vegans and eating a vegan diet.
Also, I'd heavily reccomend taking out some cookbooks as well, it might be hard for a while to come up with meals, since you've been in the meat-and-a-side-dish-of-veggies kind of box for a while.
Until then, try to eat lots of whole-grain carbs, beans, nuts, vegetables (go for the colors - don't get stuck eating potatoes and iceberg lettuce, get leafy greens and orange carrots and red bell peppers, etc) and lots of fruit, and try to get some trays of tofu. Here is a site on how to prepare tofu:

The easiest thing to do is to check ingredient labels for albumin (egg), whey (milk), casein (milk), honey (non-vegan), lactose (milk). Here is a complete list of animal ingredients that sneak into ingredients lists:

The Kraft company is owned by Phillip-Morris, the company that makes cigarrettes (though they cleverly go by Altria Group on a lot of packaging labels)... I personally don't buy products that support Phillip-Morris because cigarettes have destroyed so many lives, including ones in my family. However, that is your choice.
EDIT: Oh, I remembered something else. If you still live under the same roof as your parents you need to talk to them first. It would be good to get your parents to understand what sort of food you'd like them to purchase and to get them on the same level as you. That would be the number one way to make sure you eat a balanced diet. Try to work with your parents and respect their opinions as well.
Just eat veggies and fruits. peanut butter is peanuts and peanut oil ( no dairy butter).
I'm not a vegan but I have a bunch of friends who are. Its difficult to keep from getting deficient in certain nutrients, so you have to eat pretty carefully.

Look up vegan nutrition and similar searches, you should find some more stuff plus good recipes and wwhat to use as vegan substitutes. Make sure you have done some research on what foods to eat because there are vitamins/minerals that are only available from a couple sources that aren't animal related.
I would guess that your peanut butter is vegan but maybe google the ingredients to make sure. Its generally ground peanuts, maybe some oil and sugar and salt. Natural peanut butter would be more likely to be vegan, but I think pretty much all kinds are. Kraft doesn't have its ingredients online for some dumb reason.
u cant just eat veggies and fruit
u should be having soy products like tofu if you like it, soy milk and stuff
if its in a lot of stuff u can always find an alternative
u can get vegan bread, soy meat, soy milk, beans, and cheese even at safeway
ok... drama queen...
1st-ly we don't refer to cows breasts as breasts... they're called udders or if you like, the meaty bits are the "flank" and "plate"...
2nd-ly chicken don't have a "MENSTRUAL" cycle. Hens lay an average of 250eggs a year, they don't have wombs and they so definately don't menstruate... otherwise they'd be pms-ing all year round.
if you want to go vegan simply avoid all animal products & by-products, including but not limited to... honey, eggs, dairy, gelatin, leather, white sugar blah blah...
read the label. if it says vegan, you're safe unless of course you don't trust the manufacturer.

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN eat most breads, french fries, ect. Instead of reading through all of the ingredients (bo-ring), you can look down at the 'ALLERGEN WARNING' at the bottom.
I usually eat 7-8 fruit servings a day, and 4-6 veggie. Bread/Wheat? Not so much.
Peanut butter IS vegan. It is made up of peanuts and the oil that comes from peanuts. The "butter" is the mixture of the oil.
Hope I helped! Thanks for trying, and DON'T GIVE UP!!
Nobody can help you become vegan. If you want to do it, you're the only one who can.
Peta's Accidentally Vegan list is pretty neat. Learn to read labels and buy versions of "normal" food that don't have animal products in them. It's really not that hard if its something you really want to do.
A lot of people insist you have to learn how to be a gourmet chef before you can be a successful vegetarian or vegan. I laugh. I haven't eaten red meat in 14 years. I've been vegetarian for 10 years, and I've been vegan for 1 year. I've never once had a desire to learn to cook. Also, I don't even have a microwave (well, I have one, but it's been in storage for a year and a half since I first started dabbling in raw foods.)
It is possible to be vegetarian/vegan without being a pro at cooking. You just learn along the way what's vegan and what's not.
Regarding previous posts about vegan food being expensive... Everyone should be eating produce whether they're vegetarian or omni. That's not an "additional" expense for a vegan. Yes, meat analogs are pricey. They also aren't a necessity, they're a luxury. I do spend a lot of money on my food and bath stuff, but that's because I choose to and I can afford it. It's not because I have to as a vegan.
I also suggest since you're worried about deficiencies, you educate yourself on what possible deficiencies you're likely to have with your diet (none, if you eat properly) instead of listening to the crap omnis spout about protein. The only people with deficiencies i've ever known were all omni. Have you seen the average omni diet? Most of them have no room to talk when they want to start up about vegan deficiencies.
I've never seen a chicken with a tampon.
most vegans live on peanut butter! thats my absulute favorite!
if you become a vegan... you should e eating ALOT of vegitables, tofu, and soy
there are soooo many things that can be made without milk or eggs:
soy ice cream
soy cheese
there are certain things you can put in repies to replace eggs
GOOD LUCK!!
i know alot of vegans its a very expensive lifestyle the food they buy isn't cheap. what cracks me up is this whole organic kick lol how would you know or trust any store that but lets say lettuce and they sell it at 3 times the price shouldn't it be cheaper if they didn't use chemicals ? or it it more expensive because they hire Mexicans to watch out for bugs on the lettuce the whole time its growing ? i have nothing against people who live the lifestyle of a vegan but alot of the vegans protest lifestyles of non vegans and try to push the lifestyle on others there is no 100 percent veagan out there. lots of animal products are used in everything even medicine like the flu shot. and make up they say are cruelty free shure they are its sold that way under a diffrent name just to make you pay more its all about the money. there is only one way to live this lifestyle of a vegan and my friends that are vegan agree with this. grow everything youreself. and remeber you cant be cruel to animals such as birds or bugs and other animals that whant to eat from youre so called organic garden. so now youre garden is taken over by mother nature and there is no way to stop mother nature. chemicals and other stuff helps alot and simply washing a fruit or a head of lettuce works wonders so ill keep buying my cheap lettuce cause i now it all comes from the same place. and i know the farmers love vegans cause they pay more money for veggies grown from the same crop that they are feeding everyone else. its so easy to certify something organic because it all comes from the land. do the reserch and i hope to dont take my rant wrong im not aganst vegans
