What supplements should a teenaged vegetarian take?!

Question: Can someone give me a name of a specific supplement/ pill I, as a teenager, can take safely to take care of the vitamins I'm missing out or not getting enough of because I'm a vegetarian? :)

1. What does your age have to do with it? The American Dietetic Association supports a vegetarian and vegan diet for all stages of life.
2. If you're eating well you shouldn't have to supplement anything (besides maybe a b complex every once in a while if you're vegan)
3. You should research and learn about your own diet instead of just listening to omnis spout crap about deficiencies. The only people I've ever known with deficiencies/anemia were omnis.

If you're old enough to decide to go vegetarian and post about it on the internet, you're old enough to research your choices & learn what risks & deficiencies are likely (in this case, none.)

..."two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun" ! (with frys and a Coke)...Supersize it !

protein

iron

none, you don't need them.
Protein and Iron, can be contained by eating nuts, seeds and grain instead of Meat.

pills can never replace food. get off your holy menu classification and eat a variety of foods.

I wouldn't pick these out yourself, i would visit a natropath, pharmacy or someone who knows their stuff about this.

If you don't eat meat im assuming you still eat eggs. They are good for protein. Also beans, beans, beans! Legumes etc. Yummy! Also a good quality yoghurt none of that sugary stuff! Also nuts (not salted) almonds, seeds (pumpkin)

Vegeterians often lack Vitamin b12, and iron. If you eat some of the foods above with a balanced diet of wholegrains (not white bread, opt for wholegrain), brown rice, not white and good veges and fruit.

If you feel tired or look pale you should get tested for a lack of iron. This can be done at a doctors.

If you want a multi vitamin just for good health go see a natropath!!

Good luck, if you have any more q's just ask!

None.

It's a widely held misconception that vegetarians need to take supplements in order to be healthy. If you are eating beans and nuts, and a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, and grains, then you should be fine. Don't take any supplements unless your doctor specifically tells you that you are deficient in some nutrient.
