If you are Canadian, check out a Superstore (Atlantic, Real Canadian or Loblaws) and try the PC veggie burgers. They are great! Yves (suprisingly) makes good breakfast sausages but nothing else. TVP is good. There is veggie ground that is good for making "meat" spaghetti sauce or chili. It needs spices and sauce. Schneider's Oh Natural! chick'n nuggets are the best. Don't go with all one brand because for some reason a lot of brands don't have all good products, they excel at only about one thing. Stay away from Tofurkey!!! It's like cardboard with turkey fat drizzled on it, it is just awful. I had fake "sausages" once and they were terrible. Just try and experiment. check out vegcooking.com as it has so many recipes..even for "scrambled eggs".

Stay away from lunch "meats" because they are full of all the bad stuff that real lunch meats have because of the processing. All these fake "meat" products are good for once in a while but don't make them a staple in your diet (often high sodium).

Boca is very popular....but extremely high in sodium. kind of defeats the purpose healthwise.

TVP [for making chili, "meaty" spaghetti sauce, etc.], Cedar Lake Chops, Frozen Soybean based "turkey" roll [4 lbs... makes great "turkey" salad] are among the vegetarian products that I use and like... some of these products I have served in a Deli and folks who ate meat liked them quite well.

Boca

Try the ground meat as a sub for recipes

Sanitarium make some great frozen schnitzels etc. I used to buy "notdogs" they were excellent, can't remember who made them.

Ok this was my biggest problem when I became a vegetarian until I discovered MorningStar, everything they make is good and they are really the best. BUT Boca is not bad either it is definately a close second and the price makes it worth it but if you can go with Morning Star. Now there is only one thing in Morning Star that I don't really like that much and it's their "hot dogs" I prefer Yves, Yves "hot dogs" is absolutely delicious but Morning Star isn't that bad I just happen to prefer Yves.
Good Luck.

These processed "fake" meat products are the "junk food" of the veggie world. They are loaded with preservative, spices, sodium and suspect vegetable "byproducts". There is NOTHING healthy about them. Convenient, YES, but expensive and unhealthy.

As a flexitarian vegetarian . . . and most flexi-veggers that I know won't touch them.

Many of them contain ingredients that are linked to cancer.

MORNING STAR! They taste really good. Then I would choose Boca, Then Yves; I think they taste good.

A$H!

I found moringstar the best. Yves is not in my area.

Depends on what you're looking for.

I'm also tired of hearing the "mcdonalds/cafeteria/blahblahblah burgers are soy" myths. No. They aren't. Have you seen the prices of veggie stuff? It's a bit more than the crap you get at mcdonalds/cafeteria/blahblahblah. You pay for quality. Trust, the food at mcdonalds/cafeteria/blahblahblah is definitely animal. It just may not be the parts you are hoping they are.

Quorn! I love it. You can get it in Whole Food Market. And VegOne from Asian market.

There is no such thing as "soy meat". Soybeans aren't meat, and their byproducts are also not meat.

If you want meat, eat meat. If you want vegetables, eat vegetables. Don't try to make meat taste like vegies, and don't try to make vegies taste like meat - you'll be dissapointed.

All of them are disgusting...why not just have a sausage, hamburger, bacon or hot dog as is?

Guess your mama told you to eat your vegetables, huh?
