Are hens and goats meant to be eaten by us?!
Answers: We are only adapted to eat meat in survival situations, we are omnivores, although in every day life we should be herbivourous.
Yes!I love goat and chicken meat .The grilled is the best.Try it
I would think that's a personal choice. As I've said many times before... it's all about choice and the freedom to make those choices, and not about dictating and criticizing. Goat meat? Never even heard of it. Maybe not in the US?
Actually, yes. The human animal was intended to be omnivorous. While certainly meat is better as a supplement to a diet and not the focus of it, our bodies are designed to get their nutrients from all sources. Especially iron and certain amino acids. That's why vegetarians and vegans have to be especially careful to eat certain foods in combinations.
What does everybody mean by the word "meant"?
Animals were meant to be eaten by us. That is such an obscure question. I could also go on and say that we were meant to kill each other.
What is the justification of the word 'meant'?
If we're going by health standards, then hens and goats are definitely more healthy in terms of fat and cholesterol. Janet: goat meat is widely eaten in many countries and even in the U.S. , when you order a gyro,it's usually a combination of goat and lamb. If you want to get into ethics, I'm the wrong person to ask.
one cannot really say if we were "meant" to
is it possible? well cooked yes, probably not raw. If humans were "meant" to eat it, I would argue that humans should be able to eat it raw.
should you eat goats and hens ? NO- there is no need to eat meat, so why kill creatures and destroy the environment to satisfy an addiction passed on to you by your parents.
People that go on about how humans are omnivores, can you eat raw meat ? no? then you are not "meant" to eat it.
for those who do eat them (me included) then the answer is obviously yes.
for those who don't then the anwer is varied. Some will not because they don't/won't touch/consume meat for again a variety of reasons.. Some would eat "regular" meat but nothing "exotic" like a goat.
From a purely culinary standpoint, it is simply a matter of taste.
yes, best BBQ
There is always the guilt when we hear of animals being slaughtered for our consumption but it hasn't stopped those of us who are meat eaters . Pity that life is like that. We all make choices and if you can refrain from eating meat, then good for you, but please don't judge those who do. By the way, goat meat is called mutton.
yes as they are producing off spring to cover the amount humans eat. People need to be careful with hens due to the bird flu.
I'm not sure "meant" is necessarily the correct word. But they can be eaten if one so chooses.
Actually goat meat in quite popular throughout the world including the States. Goat meat is wonderful grilled as mentioned or in a stew. Why would you think hens were not meant to be eaten. It is a a chicken of course. A nice big old stewing hen makes a wonderful chicken soup.
I agree that the word "meant" can be very tricky. Who "meant" it and how do we know? Either way, you did not ask "Are humans meant to eat hens and goats?", you asked "Are hens and goats meant to be eaten by us?" In that case, I would have to say no.
If those animals were "meant" for anything, if they have any higher purpose, I have to imagine it is something better than to just be slaughtered and eaten.
Well if humans were specialized feeders (like a Panda who eats only bamboo shoots) and it was in our biological makeup to eat only hens and goats, then yes we are meant to eat them. If there was no other food source around us except them, then we are meant to eat them also. Otherwise it's just a case of you can if you want to because you have choice, if there was no choice then you are meant to if it means survival.
i don't think so, and besides a live, tamed pet hen is more fun anyways! (i had a couple for about 8 years) but going by what other primates eat we should be eating insects and bugs, not things like red meat and poultry
They aren't "meant" for anything anymore than humans are.
