Is drinking vegetable juice like V8 as beneficial as eating raw veggies?!

Question: on the v8 bottle it says it has 3 full servings of vegetables but I'm wondering if it really is as good as eating them.

Answers: on the v8 bottle it says it has 3 full servings of vegetables but I'm wondering if it really is as good as eating them.

No, because it is boiled, processed and loaded with sodium and preservatives. Raw vegetables are fresh, has enough sodium needed and if you want more add a little kelp powder.

it's not as good, but u do still get vitamins, so it's better than soda.

Dr Mercola says no.

NO it is not. It is COOKED. That is part of the canning process.
Do Raw Veggie Juices 1st, then eat raw Veggies, next best will be lightly cooked Veggies.

I do a V-8 ever now & then. I like the taste but it is not the best as a mainstay in your diet. As a addition to doing the above suggestions it can't hurt.

Slainté (to your health)

No. Raw veges have 100% of their nutrients whereas V8 (et al) has reduced nutrients due to cooking processes and unhealthy added ingredients such as large amounts of sodium.

The spicy one makes a damn fine bloody mary though!!

I also love the spicy one, and while it does have vitamins, fresh vegetables and fruits are always the front runner.

No, there is nothing healthier than fresh raw veggies. Any processing takes away nutrients.

No. There's added salt, a lot less fiber, and the nutrients are added, since they're taken away when the juice is concentrated. However, if you seriously hate vegetables, this is a better option than none.

Well, what's missing is the fiber, and what's added is lots and lots of salt (that's why it tastes so good). But if you're like me, there are times when a great big plate full of broccoli staring up at you is intimidating. All that chewing.... It seems to me that a V8 now and again to eke out your 5 servings a day of vegetables has got to be better than skipping them altogether.

no. V8 is boiled proscessed and CANNED! raw veggies are so much better for you and you can buy a juicer for 50$ and make your own veggie and fruit juices. then there is no question obout the health.

yes it does give you 3 servings of vegetables but it also give your body a salt overload. Salt is a poison (i know it adds flavor to foods) and too much is very harsh to your system

No.

V8 is more beneficial with a shot of vodka, dill pickle, celery, lime, hot sauce, Worchester sauce, and celery salt around the rim.

Other then that ... you can't beat raw vegetables.
