Did I do bad?!
I thought that I mite thow up when I ate it, but I didn't and my time of the mouth came the next day. Anyways now I feel really really bad about eating that poor animal. Did I do a bad thing?
By the way I'm 15.
Answers: Ok I ate meat! I said it. But I did it for my mom and for my health. You see I became a vegetarian the wrong way (I just quit on meat, I didn't do it though time). Anyways its been 2 and a 1/2 mouths and I was having a hard time starting my time of the mouth thing. so me and my mom start freaking out and my mom starts baging me to eat meat again so that I mite start.

This is such a hard ethical question. Hard core vegans will say that eating any meat is murder. That's an error in terms because murder is a legal term that means the act is against the law and eating meat is not against the law. But, how we humans view other animals - as mechanical organisms with no soul or ability to feel - is patently wrong as anyone who has contact with animals on a regular basis knows. Thus, killing them for food or fur etc, is the taking of the life of a being much like us, a being with feelings, fear, sadness, joy, compassion etc. So, are we evil for doing it? I think it is not an easy answer, at least when it comes to diet. In the animal world, many animals eat each other. The same animals we feel it is abhorrent to kill for sport or food, often either get killed by non-human predators on a regular basis or they kill other animals themselves, for food. Sometimes, even, such as in the case of Chimpanzees, they kill for non-necessary reasons like jealousy, anger, mob-violence. So, are we as humans better, more evolved than the rest of the animals such that we must not do as they do? That does seem like a bit of a contradiction in the thinking of those who people who believe we are no "better" than other animals. Let me say that I do eat meat but not without great reservation. I do try to eat meat that is free range, for instance, but it does not change the fact that I am eating someone not only much like me, but perhaps one with a better, more purer sole than I. It is a hard issue to resolve for me. I think that we were designed to consume some amount of animal protein but not half as much as we do. For example, apparently the full chain of essential amino acids (I think), is only found in red meats. It is hard to reproduce via supplements. I have also seen firsthand many people, myself included (I was a vegetarian for 17 years), who experienced some health problems from a vegetarian or vegan diet. That's because it is hard to get a balanced diet without animal protein, without knowing what you are doing and havin the time to do it. I have also noticed some people lose muscle mass when they quit eating meat. That said, many nutritionists and doctors say it is possible (or even necessary) to have a balanced diet without meat or even without any animal products at all. It just necessitates planning and diligence. Did you do wrong? You had health problems and as a minor, you had to deal with the authority of your parents which puts a lot of pressure on you. I would not beat yourself up. You seem like a person with a lot of heart, compassion for the rest of the animals on our planet and a sincere desire to not be a part of the huamn machine that has exploited and worked to destroy our world and everything in it for centuries, if not thousands of years. If I were you (and if you have health insurance), I would ask your mom to take you to a nutritionist if you want to maintain vegetarian diet. See what they say about how to do it and make sure to seek one out who is very knowledgeable about vegetarianism. Another thing you can do besides refraining from meat eating if you find that you are unable to do that in the long term is to limit your meat intake to that which comes from producers who practice what they call "humane" killing, if any killing can be called that, and free range is a start. Also, you can get involved in animal rights movements at any level, from PETA to more grassroots local groups that lobby and agitate for laws that protect domesticated animals such as the banning of pet stores which are horrible, tragic mills that warehouse and abuse and neglect puppies and other animals. I hope I've helped. Ultimately, I think you are an empathic person which is sometimes rare for people your age. You are thinking about the impact of your actions on other beings and that shows that even if you are not always perfect, you are probably a better human than many. And that it something special.
vegetariansim is unnatural for humans, we have canine teeth, which means that we need a little meat in our diets, not much, but our bodies don't produce some chemicals that are found in meat and we need it to supplement those chemicals, Our nearest relatives the chimpanzees, hunt and eat smaller animals even though they were originally thought to be vegetarians. Its in our nature. don't worry about it, it the natural order of things, even now, your body is being eaten by dust mites and tiny germs, they eat you, you eat something else, its all the circle of life.
No, you and your mother did what you thought was right.. In the end, that's all that matters.
if you choose to be a vegetarian then you need to talk to your doctor or a nutritionist so that you can supplement in the nutrients you are losing by not eating the meat.
You have not done the wrong thing but I am wandering why you think their is a link between your period and meat? I think that you have been so stressed out not eating the right foods and maybe your mum has been so worried and harped on about you not eating meat that you missed your period. You don't have to eat meat but you must have a balanced diet. You can achieve this simply eating a varied diet of fruit, vegetables, calcium enriched foods and protein like lentils, beans and tofu. You could even start off eating fish. Did you research before you became vegetarian did you go to vegan wolf web site www.veganwolf.com or the vegetarian society uk www.vegsoc.org to get information?
How about recipes - have you tried the one million recipes out there that are vegan or vegetarian?
www.vrg.org this website has a teenage vegetarian section so you can go back to eating vegan/vegetarian foods but I sugest you really try and research before you go any further. good luck.
No you didn't. You ate a small amount of meat to maintain good health. You obviously are missing something in your abnormal "strict" vegetarian diet. At 15 and growing you should eat a well-balanced diet.
Google "Flexitarian Diets" and check out the websites.
no you did whats right. if we could just cut down the meat everyone eats the world would still be better than it is now.
heres the deal...for every animal you dont eat im going to eat three. I normally eat just one. So if you dont eat an animal three will die...but if you eat an animal I will only eat one therefore only two will die. So to save an animals life you must eat another animal!
