If you are sure about being vegetarian I think your family will understand. It is more of a personal decision. You could try it and love it, but who knows, after a week or two you could decide you are sick of it. Talk to your family and try it out for a while and see how it goes. Good luck

Try eating less to start. See how that works.

dont become a vegetarian. its REALLY not healthy, and why would u if you like meat? the tilt of nutrients you are going to change in your diet will react on you/

If you want to become a vegetarian then do it but only if you are 100% commited. It doesn't really matter if your family eats meat or not though you may have to buy your own food.

But if you like meat and are not sure about becoming a vegetarian than that's you answer.

I love meat - we were made to eat it.

I reccomend against going total vegan though. Make sure you still eat eggs, cheese, fish, poultry.. something with real protein (bean protein is different, and you'll be missing out on vital amino acids). That's the best way to stay healthy.

if you like to eat meat then y do u want 2 be a vegetarian think of it this way just because 1 person stop eating meat that doesn't mean and animals life will be saved some one else will eat your portion or meat for you so you might as well not make your self suffer enough to try and stop eating meat

Be careful on how you enforcing it into your body, you have to eat meat slowly after you have not ate it for a while. It might mess up your stomach, so get like a light meat and take it easy.
my niece did the same thing and she tried to eat meat again, but she ate it so fast that she was in the bathroom alot. So just be careful

If you do not want to eat meat, then ask your family to help you. You also must decide if you will eat fish or poultry. Many vegetarians choose to eat one or both of those. It makes it much easier, at least until you get used to it. Don't forget to get a lot of protein to replace the meat. (Avocados are a great meat substitute.) Good luck, I think it is a respectable decision!

That said, ere are plenty of analogues out there such as veggie burgers, veggie sausages, veggie crumbles, veggie strips for stir fry, veggie nuggets, and so on. Many natural food stores will have a variety of them.

Learn to cook tofu (freeze and press to avoid mushiness) and tempeh.

And check out "The Vegetarian Meat and Potatoes Cookbook" by Robin Robertson so you have hearty meals.

We are taught at an early age to eat meat and like it. Of course by meat and liking it means we dress it up with spices and vegetables to make it yummy. Family moments are made by sitting around the table and eating, and sharing.
Now comes along a foreign idea as what entitles what actually "meat" is and where it comes from (an animal that was once alive). Your moral convictions are tested with this fact you now know about. So in your head you want to be vegetarian/vegan because you don't want to participate in the killing of innocent animals. But family time around the dinner table is special, and this would make a big impact with you declaring that you are not going to eat Mom's chicken because you are a vegetarian. Dilemma.

How about if you talk it over with them and see what they say. And then you can say what you would like to do. I would suggest you go about it slowly. Maybe you can say you would like to have no red meat for awhile, and just have chicken and fish (or cheese and eggs). Maybe have some hard boiled eggs around in the refrigerator when Mom makes the flank steak dinner or hamburgers. Then work up to no chicken or fish for awhile and see how that goes. Find something to replace it, and keep it handy in the refrigerator (maybe just the hardboiled eggs again).
Even though I had been vegetarian for two years and then went vegan for now four years, I still have memories of how good a prime rib dinner was. I just now have a conscience and will not eat flesh anymore. (People get so upset at the word Flesh. Sorry, but it is what it is).

My daughter has the same problem - it hasn't worked out well for her, but she does eat less meat. It is kind of hard to change your eating habits when you are still living at home and people cook for you. It's not really fair to expect everyone else to change their eating habits, and they usually don't.
Talk to your parents. You can try being more responsible for your own food, and maybe even do some cooking for the family and try out some meatless dishes with them, if they are adventurous enough.
You could also try eating less meat. Meat is good, and good for you, and being a vegetarian makes it really difficult to get all the nutrients you need - truth be told, grains and corn are a poor substitute, as is tofu (which doesn't taste anything like meat, unless you are in a coma - if you eat it, expect it to taste like tofu, which is fine - foods really shouldn't be subjected to our inflated expectations anyway).
Also, try soup - this is an excellent way to get all the protein you need using very small amounts of meat. Make a bone broth (recipe following). Bone broth has protein in it, and nutrients that help you digest and use protein in your body, so you don't need to eat much meat.

Bone Broth

Bones of a roasted chicken or
a Beef soup bone, which has been roasted.
1 onion, chopped large
2-3 cloves garlic
vegetable parts (the parts of veggies that are usually thrown away, like carrot peels, potato peels, broccoli and cauliflower stalks, etc. Just collect these in a ziploc in the freezer until you are ready to make your broth.

After you have eaten the chicken, pick the remaining meat off the bones, or for beef broth, roast the bone until the meat falls off. If you buy a soup bone, have the butcher crack it, so the marrow is exposed.
The chicken doesn't have to be picked perfectly clean, just get the big chunks off. Break down the carcass a bit and put it in a pot - or, put the beef bone in a large pot.
Add to the pot the vegetable ingredients, and cover with water by at least an inch. Turn the pot on to boil, then down to simmer for 6 - 12 hours. Add water as necessary. Once a few hours have passed, allow the broth to simmer down. When it is ready, allow it to cool for a little while, then pour it through a strainer, or cheese cloth to extract the broth. You can throw away the bones and other stuff.

What is left is the broth, it should make jelly when it is cooled. You can boil it way down, and freeze it and add water again when you are ready to use it. This makes it very easy to store. You can remove excess fat - but this is extremely nutritious stuff, so don't throw it away, try to use it in your soup. If it really is to much fat, you can take some of it out. Chicken fat (or schmalz) is wonderful for sauteing other foods.

When you are ready to make soup - you can add the meat you reserved, or just make vegetable soup. Add as much water as you need, and any variety of meat, vegetables, beans and legumes, herbs and spices. Vegetable soup only needs to be cooked for a few minutes, once the broth is done, so it's quite fast. When adding the veggies, add the larger vegetables that cook more slowly first, like carrots and potatoes, then when they are completely cooked, you can add the other veggies that don't need muching cooking.

it taste like meat, but it isnt animals...
I've been a vegetarian for over a yearrrr.
And I think its the best thing/choice I've ever made.
I think that you need to think if you can health-fully cut meat from your diet.

It's sad to kill animals. And it's your choice if you wanna be part of it or not. But meat is good for you, and you need it. I do not prefer meat from China because of the way they kill them, but that's my opinion....but it's your choice. Good Luck!

Try reducing meat consumption but not eliminating it entirely. For example, only eat meat on weekends.

Nobody can tell you what you WANT to do. Going vegetarian is a conscious choice. Either you want to or you don't.

dont become a vegitarian. Humans were created by god to eat meat. its called the food chain plus meat is nice
