What do you call yourself if you are vegan but eat fish?!
I am a vegetarian currently.
I am trying to go vegan.
But I want to try not eating eggs or dairy but eating fish.
Answers: I KNOW IT IS NOT VEGAN THAN, that is just the easiest way to word it. I am not looking for criticism I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a name for it.

Don't worry too much about fitting everyone elses profile of what you "should" or "shouldn't" eat. Eating is a personal choice, and no one has the right to judge what you put into your body. The technical term for a person that eats fish, but no meat is a pescatarian. Make sure that the choices you make suit YOU, not what some other group thinks you should eat. I got heavily criticized on here when I first started going vegetarian, because I still ate fish on occasion. Silly! Unless someone is signing my mortgage payment each month, then they have no right to judge my dietary choices. It is a common misconception that vegetarians eat fish, but they do not. Vegans do not eat use any animal products or by products. Myself, I am vegetarian, but enjoy fresh, raw milk from my happy, pampered cow, and eggs from a friends well cared for chickens-I have no guilt issues about it at all. The animals gladly give it up, and I consider it a gift. I would not consume ANY product from an animal that is commercially farmed, not only for ethical reasons, but because they are loaded with toxic garbage, such as steroids, growth hormones, etc. You likely WILL get criticized, but just blow it off. Eat whatever suits you, and kudos to you for making better choices than most do. Good luck!
i think that's a pescitarian
Well not a vegan...
You would be a hypocrite, since fish is meat. Just tell people you don't eat red meats.
Eating fish is not vegetarian either. You should just not feel the need to label yourself at all.
Pescatarian. No meat but fish. And you wouldn't say anything about not eating the eggs or dairy.
My diet is similar to this and i find that there is no good word or way to explain it. Most of the time i just say vegetarian and fill in the details to people on a need to know basis. You can say pesce vegetarian, (as opposed to lacto ovo vegetarian) but some vegetarians don't like that and most people will assume that if you are doing fish that you are doing eggs and dairy despite the fact that you didnt include lacto or ovo.
I would add that i never say vegan, because vegan is so much more of a lifestyle that goes beyond the diet and if you are including fish you arent that at all, and personally i think it is a measure of respect to the people willing to make that full sacrifice not to use the word. vegetarian to me is just a diet and so it is ok to say vegetarian but i eat fish.
I am with you. I am Vegan except for fish so I don't tell people I am Vegan I say "almost" vegan but I eat fish..there are different reasons why people are Vegan some it's too lose weight others for cruelty of animals and some 'like me' Poultry Dairy and Red Meats make me feel tired after meals and I don't like the way I feel after eating it. so I avoid it. Now overall it just grosses me out. IDK why. So I'm with you on this don't let people bully you because you aren't a strict Vegan. We are all different and as long as we eat healthy it's OK if you want to eat fish once in while. But remember you don't want to eat too much fish everyday or anything. I eat salmon or tuna about 3 times a week and the rest of the time I eat Vegan.
There's no official term for it... don't worry about categorizing yourself since not everyone is going to fit nicely into the niches we already have. The names of types of diets are gradually growing so it's possible someday someone will come up with a term that fits. If you need a turn of phrase to describe it though, try "dairy-free pescetarian" "I don't eat dairy or red meat", "i'm like a fish-eating vegan" or "I eat seafood but have a vegan diet otherwise" etc. You'll find one that suits you eventually.
It is true that you are not Vegan or a Veggie lover because you eat fish. That's ok though even though fish are still animals.
Your sure not a true vegetarian or vegan.... Sorry but its the truth
you're not a vegan or a vegetarian.
fish don't grow on trees. if you haven't noticed fish are creatures, too.
Gotta break it to you... but, you're still a meat-eater if you eat fish.
A person that only eats fish....
did u know that are actually ARENT even a vegetarian if you eat fish? many people dont know that.
so the the is, you just dont eat dairy and eggs or white meat or red meat.
Don't eat the poor little fishies! You'll never be able to look a goldfish in the eyes again! :P
It's not vegan or vegetarian, and there is no label for it. You could very well say, I eat no animal products except for fish.
An oxymoron.
Seriously, where did people get the crazy idea that fish are not animals? Look in a biology textbook. Kingdom Animalia. Animal. Vegetarians and vegans don't eat animals. It doesn't matter what else you cut out of your diet; if you eat any dead animals, you are an omnivore. This is not criticism, it's fact.
An omnivore.
Just say that you are a pescatarian working your way to veganism, really though you don't need a label. I don't understand why so many people get angry at these labels, you are doing a good thing even though you still eat fish.
Your a vegan with a minor exception.
fish means vegetarian. call yourself...............................a limited vegan or something
